Mark Ayzenberg, MD, FAAOS is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and Reconstructive Surgery. His practice focuses on minimally invasive (arthroscopic “key- hole”) surgery of the shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle, as well as total joint replacements of the shoulder. He also treats general orthopaedic trauma, including dislocations and fractures. Dr. Ayzenberg is a specialist in all shoulder arthroscopic procedures, including rotator cuff repair, instability surgery and complex reconstructive surgery such as superior capsular reconstruction and dermal allograft reconstruction. He is an expert in joint-sparing surgery to avoid shoulder replacements whenever possible. In patients with advanced shoulder arthritis that may not be improved with arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Ayzenberg utilizes patient-specific technology and computer planning guidance to perform a shoulder replacement tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy and needs. Dr. Ayzenberg also treats knee injuries, such as ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and other ligamentous injuries, and performs meniscus surgery and cartilage restoration. For all of these surgeries, he employs minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery as well, whenever possible. When a patient has advanced arthritis that cannot be treated with arthroscopy, Dr. Ayzenberg provides options to avoid joint replacement whenever possible, including utilization of platelet-rich-plasma (PRP), and other orthobiologics. For patients with conditions of the hip and ankle that can be treated with a minimally invasive approach, Dr. Ayzenberg specializes in hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears of the hip, as well as ankle arthroscopy for cartilage restoration, instability and impingement of the ankle. Dr. Ayzenberg graduated cm laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then completed medical school at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, PA as a Doctor of Medicine and graduated with highest honors, at the top of the class. Dr. Ayzenberg trained at the prestigious Sports, Arthroscopy and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI). Prior to his fellowship, Ayzenberg completed his residency at the Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, where he served as Academic Chief Resident. He has an active interest in advancing the field of Sports Orthopedic Surgery and has multiple scientific publications, several of which have been presented at national orthopaedic meetings. Dr. Ayzenberg is experienced in the care of professional athletes, having served as assistant team physician with the Philadelphia Wings Professional Lacrosse Team. He is fluent in Russian and can speak basic Spanish.

We are all excited to welcome Jamie to the team at Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute

Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute is excited to welcome the newest member of our team!

Jamie Hermance, MHS, PA-C is a nationally certified and Pennsylvania-licensed Physician Assistant who is deeply committed to helping patients stay active, independent, and comfortable – while avoiding surgery whenever possible.
At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, Jamie is passionate about helping patients of all ages dealing with arthritis, joint pain, tendon problems and sports injuries. She focuses on conservative, evidence-based treatment plans designed to relieve pain, improve mobility, and protect joint health, always leaning towards the least invasive options and working with her patients together to come up with a plan centered on their goals.

Jamie was drawn to Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute because its “less is more” philosophy deeply resonated with her. The practice’s emphasis on listening first, giving patients the time needed to develop a thoughtful care plan, minimizing unnecessary procedures, and tailoring treatment to each patient’s goals reflects how she believes orthopaedics should be practiced—especially for individuals who want to maintain their quality of life while resorting to surgery only when it is truly the best solution.

This philosophy is further reflected in the practice’s science-driven, ethical approach to regenerative treatments, including PRP, Stem Cells, laser therapy, and other orthobiologic options. Under the leadership of Mark Ayzenberg, MD, FAAOS, a member of the National Orthobiologic Ethics Consortium, the practice is committed to offering evidence-based therapies, setting realistic expectations, and educating patients thoroughly so they can make informed decisions about their care. Jamie strongly aligns with this vision and Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute’s commitment to comprehensive, non-surgical solutions whenever possible – an approach that stands in contrast to the surgery-first model common in many orthopaedic practices.

Jamie brings broad clinical experience that allows her to guide patients with perspective, helping them understand when surgery may truly be necessary and, just as importantly, when it can be safely avoided. She believes patients deserve thoughtful recommendations, not rushed decisions. Patients appreciate Jamie’s calm, compassionate approach and the time she takes to listen and educate. She explains diagnoses, imaging findings, and treatment options in clear, practical terms, helping patients feel informed, confident, and supported throughout their care.

Jamie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Bucknell University and her Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is NCCPA certified, BLS certified and licensed in Pennsylvania. Jamie is proud to be part of the Iron Mountain Orthopaedics team and is dedicated to helping patients move better, feel stronger, and stay active on their own terms.

In her free time, Jamie enjoys hiking and skiing, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She values staying active, meaningful connections, and lifelong learning. Jamie is honored to join the team at Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute and looks forward to caring for patients in her home state of Pennsylvania.

My parents didn’t know the language. They didn’t know the culture. They had no roadmap. What they did have was a work ethic, a belief in education, and a willingness to sacrifice everything for their children.

𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆:

I’ve had the privilege of becoming an Orthopaedic surgeon, and this year I took the leap to open my own practice — Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, a place built on the principles of compassion, precision, and doing what’s right for patients.

My sister, a powerhouse in her own right, has built an incredible career of her own and now serves as Chief Legal Officer for Pye Barker.

Two kids who started with nothing but immigrant grit and parents who refused to let circumstances define us.

𝗜 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 — the millions of small decisions, late nights, sacrifices, and moments of belief (even when doubt was easier).

My parents planted seeds in soil they didn’t yet understand… and those seeds took root.

This country isn’t perfect. But our story — like so many immigrant stories — is a reminder that the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

And every day I walk into my practice, I carry that gratitude with me.

𝗧𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

𝗧𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿: 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀.

𝗧𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.
