Doctors said Matthew had a malformed brain. His parents refused abortion, later finding Matthew was misdiagnosed because of the limits of MRI technology.

Eden Anderson was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 after her anatomy scan at 21 weeks. As soon as her genetic testing came back, doctors gave her parents several options, including abortion.

But the Anderson parents never considered abortion and fought for their baby girl with love.

"We knew this child was made in the image of God and that He is the author of life, not us. We had been given the responsibility to care for and love this child, and that’s exactly what we intended to do."

Eden was born on January 7th, 2022, in a room full of 10-15 doctors and nurses ready to help. They weren't sure if she would survive birth, but then she began to cry, and her family's life was changed forever.

Eden lived for 7 ½ months in the care of her loving parents.

"She ended up defeating most odds and was with us for 7 ½ months. Her gentle but strong spirit, perfect little lips, and her sweet webbed toes left a mark on many hearts. What a great honor it was to be chosen to love and care for Eden every day as if it were her last. We are grateful for the time we got to spend with her, to fill our hearts and home with precious memories... She has absolutely changed our lives for the better, and although we would love to have her here with us still, we wouldn’t change how God has used Eden’s life to refine our faith, strengthen our marriage, and fix our eyes on the things of heaven, rather than earthly things, which are here today and gone tomorrow."

Eden is proof that every child, no matter their abilities, is a gift and deserves complete protection. ❤️

I committed to a medical program at a local college to further my knowledge of emergency situations and to better myself as an aspiring doula and midwife. I want to take deep dives like this to provide the women and families I serve with confidence in my commitment to them and their babies.
