New Faculty Feature | Dr. Michelle McLeese

Meet Dr. Michelle McLeese, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology in the School of Social Science and Global Studies. Dr. McLeese earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Virginia Tech, and her research interests include mental health and illness and crime and deviance. Her dissertation investigated subjective responses of stress from faculty/staff and students in the aftermath of the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings.

Want to know more about Dr. McLeese? She loves to sing and workout -- and she's teaching fitness classes at the Payne Center. She's also half-Colombian and left-handed and spent nine years as a college radio DJ for a childen's show (and that's not a typo!). She's married to another sociologist, has two children, and is a proud first-generation college student!

If you haven't submitted your 2019-2020 FAFSA yet, please do so ASAP at https://fafsa.ed.gov. The priority processing deadline for fall financial aid is getting close! Because it takes up to a week to receive your FAFSA file, we encourage students to submit BEFORE July 1st. If your FAFSA is selected for Verification, submit requested documents ASAP (preferably by July 1st) to allow adequate time for processing. After submitting your FAFSA, check your USM email and To-Do List in SOAR; you will be notified if additional information is needed for processing. SMTTT!
