SAVE THE DATE: March 21st
Observed by the United Nations since 2012, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. It is a global awareness campaign with the goal to help people understand and support those with Down syndrome better.

The date being the 21st day of the 3rd month of each year was chosen to represent the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which results in Down syndrome.

The "rock your socks" campaign was chosen because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes looks like mismatched socks.

Join us all and wear some mismatched socks on 3/21 to help create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome in our schools, community and around the world.

Every March, the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) and its partners collaborate to lead Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM). The annual campaign highlights how people with and without disabilities come together to form strong communities.
