Several of my friends were present in Jackson, Mississippi, this week, as Buddhist monks walked for peace through our state. Their trek is a physical representation of the practice of Metta Meditation, often translated to "loving kindness," a subject I've spoken on often in the past few years. This weekend, we will discuss this remarkable group of monks and the meaning behind their walk, and how we can practice loving kindness in our own ways.

I share some form of these words in each of my classes:
In gladness and in safety, may all beings be at ease. Whatever living beings there may be, whether they are weak or strong, omitting none: the great or the mighty, medium, short or small, the seen and the unseen, those living near and far away, those born and those yet-to-be-born. May all beings be at ease. ~Buddha
