Reality Check had an amazing time participating in the 15th Annual Clean Streets Project with Uplift Our Towns! Our youth got to see firsthand the large amounts of to***co waste polluting their communities.

E-cigarette and cigarette waste can make its way into the environment where it pollutes water, air, and land with toxic chemicals, heavy metals, and residual ni****ne. Proper disposal of to***co waste keeps us and the environment safe!

Sinai Middle School youth recently drew colorful, chalk-written messages on highly trafficked sidewalks in front of the school—known as ‘chalk the walk’— to raise awareness among their peers about the dangers of to***co use and ni****ne addiction. To***co companies spend half a million dollars every day aggressively marketing to***co products, including e-ci******es, in stores throughout New York State with colorful walls of to***co products and other marketing materials that attract and addict our youth.

Thank you to Uplift Our Towns for hosting such an amazing community clean up this past weekend!

Did you know that an estimated 4.5 trillion butts end up as litter every year—that’s a staggering 850,000 tons of cigarette litter, equivalent to around thirty times the weight of the Statue of Liberty! Cigarette butts are made of cellulose acetate, a type of plastic that is not biodegradable. Cigarette butts and e-cigarette waste leach chemicals, heavy metals, and microplastics into the environment.
