Therapeutic Recreation at Penacook Place.
Our mission is to help each resident feel understood, supported and valued each and every day. Our program meets the psychosocial needs of residents with dementia by focusing on emotional well being, connection, and identity. We individualize engagement based on resident’s life story, preferences, and abilities. Consistent routines and familiar staff provide emotional safety and reduce anxiety. Social needs are supported through group programs and one to one interactions that prevent overstimulation. When residents show signs of distress or behavioral changes, we treat those behaviors as communication and respond to the underlying unmet need.
Bonds created between residents and staff members are special. This is their home and staff members are their respectful guests.
