Yes, THIS!!! 👏 👏 👏

thanks for leading this!!!! The press conference today was horrendous…. Misinformation continued to be spread, gaslighting of mothers, vaccine conspiracy theories, and overstating correlation as causation, overstating weak positive signals for standard of care, and stigmatizing the autism community… this only creates more confusion and harm… to the families with children with autism I’m sorry that you had to listen to this and I hope in the future as a society we do better.

if this administration truly cares about autism, they would show it in proper research, advocacy, and allocating resources! This is my hope for the future!

Dr. Rost, on behalf of all of us from the AAN, has written a letter to RFK Jr. about the dangerous and unscientific claims the HHS is making about the complex etiology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

“The AAN and other specialty societies use a rigorous evidence-based methodology when issuing clinical guidelines or statements regarding the causes of neurological conditions. As experts in autism spectrum disorders, we question whether the evidence presented by HHS reaches that standard.”

Please reach out to your local legislators and let your voice be heard. Misinformation is harmful. Andy X. Vargas

Who do you think has your best interest at heart? Those of us who dedicated our lives to studying neurological diseases to care for you and your loved ones OR an environmental lawyer with no medical degree or training who is the mouthpiece of a fascist dictator? 🧐

Come on, folks, let’s wake up! 👏 👏

The health and integrity of our nation is at stake. 💔

Although we are currently in Greece, our hearts are heavy for Haverhill (our other home). We pray for Mr. Francis Gigliotti, his family, and our community — for healing, unity, compassion, peace, and love.

———

“We know from early reports that Francis was experiencing a mental health crisis. And we also know that Massachusetts strictly limits how police use force, especially when it comes to restraints that affect breathing.

In Massachusetts regulations (550 CMR 6.04-6.06), officers are not allowed to kneel on someone’s back, chest, neck, or keep them face-down in a way that restricts breathing, except in very temporary circumstances. Officers are also required to intervene if excessive force is used, and to reposition someone quickly if they are face-down and struggling to breathe.

The presumption of innocence applies to everyone, to those being policed and to the police themselves. However, especially when a life has been lost, that principle demands more than a performative investigation. This tragedy demands a thorough, independent, and transparent one.”
