At Chef Dad's Table, we believe that having a basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen skills, and learning to prepare simple meals can improve independence, increase confidence, and provide for better nutrition. Our cooking classes not only teach a valuable life skill, but they are also a means of enjoyment and socialization. Working in a kitchen can also provide both physical and occupational therapy. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! In the spirit of getting our hands messy while following recipes, many of the kids made homemade play-doh. Our clients got to express their creativity making their own play-doh turkeys - following a structured written recipe, then developing their own decorative plan. Meet Evil Cookie Monster (Turkey’s Version) and many others!

Something exciting is happening! There has been a huge burst in research on sensory integration therapy for adults in the past year. This is a topic of growing interest in the OT research realm. At TWFK we are extremely excited to see this reach move forward as we have time and time again seen the significant positive impact occupational therapy with sensory integration approach can make on adult lives.
