Greetings everyone,
I hope this finds you and your family in good health. While there have been many changes in our world, one thing remains, and that is my commitment to your safety and health. By its very nature, massage and bodywork requires skin to skin contact, and as always, infection control and safe practice has always been of utmost importance to me. To that end, as we navigate these new waters of COVID 19 with additional requirements and new measures, please help me in supporting all of my clients by cooperating with new policies and procedures for Fois Massage.
My practice follows Practice Guidelines recommended by FSMTB (Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards) AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) , as well as CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and OSHA ( Occupational Safety and Health Admin) and the rules, regulations and guidelines from the State of MD Massage Therapy Board. In light of COVID 19 and the above agency recommendations, you may experience some changes in your appointment booking as well as your session.
For Example:
Upon scheduling your appointment, we will update your health history and any potential to COVID exposure.
Upon arrival I’ll ask that you have a clean mask on and use hand sanitizer and we will proceed immediately to the treatment room and carry out the pre-session consultation there, rather than in the waiting area to reduce areas of potential exposure. During the session, you will be required to wear a mask when lying face up, and I will have the face cradle specially draped for droplet containment when lying face down. I will also be wearing a mask during the entire encounter and will be changing my clothing between clients.
I’ll ask if you have developed any new symptoms since we last spoke and may take a temperature reading with a non-touch thermometer. If you are feeling ill on the day of your appointment, please cancel with no penalty. Massage is not advised for any acute illness, not just for coronavirus.
I will have a new consent form for signature stating that close contact with people increases the risk involved with COVID 19. Your signature acknowledges your consent to receive massage with that understanding.
At this time, massage sessions will be limited to 50 minutes to reduce exposure time, with a maximum appointment load of 3 per day to provide time for adequate and complete sanitization between sessions.
You may also notice a few changes in the treatment room in that I have taken steps to eliminate/ limit some fabric surfaces that can harbor organisms. Please be assured that linens are completely changed between clients (as usual) and will be washed in the hottest temperature possible with anti-bacterial soaps.
Those clients with the following conditions may want to consider postponing massage at this time: chronic lung disease, acute asthma, heart disease, kidney disease, compromised immune system
I apologize for any inconvenience but please understand that there are many “behind the scenes” requirements that I am mandated to follow…in addition to always wanting to do the right thing. As a Licensed Massage Therapist we take an oath to “first do no harm”, which is of utmost importance to me. Any exposure to just one positive person may facilitate the spread to many others, not to mention it will force me to close the practice again….nobody wants that ! so please use best judgement when scheduling your appointment.
The practice is scheduled to re-open June 15th. Please reach out to get on the books 😊! I look forward to seeing each and every one of you very soon.
Thank you for being my client, I truly value your loyalty and the trust that you place in me each and every time we meet. I will continue to do my best to keep everyone safe and I look forward to promoting your health and wellness.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions,
Cindy
