In regards to the options we offer to the community for health care services, here is an affirmation about the operations of our clinic: NO ONE WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO SERVICES DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY. A SLIDING FEE SCHEDULE IS AVAILABLE BASED ON FAMILY SIZE AND INCOME. This is true for both the Ka'ū Wellness Clinic and the non-profit clinic, Ts'Dakah of Ka'ū Wellness.

You do not have to have health insurance to have health care!

We are pleased to announce an additional option at Ka'ū Wellness called Ka'ū Wellness Kakou, a membership-type program available only to those without health insurance. Included in a set monthly fee would be a monthly medical visit either in-person or by telemedicine, minor procedures, e-mail and texting communications, and a yearly well visit. 0-17 years of age ($50/month, $600/year), 18-59 years of age ($100/month, $1200/year), 60 years of age and older ($150/month, $1800/year). Further discounted services to come.

We also still offer self-pay rates to those without insurance for services rendered if one is not interested in the membership plan, and can refer to our affiliate non-profit, "Ts'Dakah, of Ka'ū Wellness" for those who cannot afford the set prices.

Many mahalos to everyone for your patience with us regarding communications. I apologize to you all for the troubles you have had in trying to reach us. Please be assured we are aware of the problem, and are trying to generate ideas regarding solutions. We simply have many patients and few staff!
First, if you are to call our office, you MUST leave a message for us to call you back with your name, best way to contact you, and general information about your call. We are not able to call you back if you do not leave a message, nor your name and contact information. Denise and Amanda are amazing at trying to call everyone back, if they have a message to do so.
I would like to encourage those of you who are current established patients with Ka'ū Wellness to utilize the Tebra Patient Portal, which allows secure HIPPA-compliant communication with us regarding your health. If you are not currently signed up for our portal, please let us know by e-mail at healthy@kauwellness.com. This is also another effective way to communicate to our office, utilizing this general e-mail address. Please realize that the portal is the only HIPPA-compliant communication, so please do not share information by e-mail or text that you would be concerned about not being secure.
Facebook Messenger is NOT the best way to reach us, as I do not check Messenger frequently. We can initiate either a text or e-mail to you to which you can reply, and the whole office sees those.
Lastly, please stop in at either location to get help face to face! We love to see you, and matters can be handled that way efficiently. Ocean View location on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3:30pm and Fridays 9am to 2pm. Shirakawa/Waiohinu location Monday through Thursday 9am to 3pm.
We are definitely a busy clinic (good problem to have!), and are doing our best, so we appreciate your help in making relationship together efficient and effective.

We are currently accepting new patients still under Marina Padilla, APRN, in Ocean View, and are excited to open up to Dr. Patrick Yeakey's (M.D.) patients to establish with us now! He anticipates joyfully joining us now in January 2024 at the Ka'u Wellness Shirakawa location, and we want to establish his patients with Ka'u Wellness for him until then. Here's the goal: we need at least 30 signatures on your Community Interest List to accomplish Step 1 of the LifeWise launch process. Can you help get the signatures needed to move on in the process?

Anyone who lives, works or worships in the community near Naalehu Elementary School is able to sign the list. So please think about your connections and share with them that we can bring Bible education to public school students DURING SCHOOL HOURS. All they have to do is sign the list to voice their support!

LifeWise Academy provides Bible Education to public school students during school hours! Sign the list and share it with everyone you know to voice your support for a local program. It only takes 50 signatures to get started!

In addition, we are also hosting Josh Johnson, a dedicated Physician Assistant with a specialization in Orthopedics from Ali’i Health. Starting in June, he will be in the Ocean View Ka’u Wellness clinic on June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, October 16, and November 20 (third Monday of the month). We are now taking new patients (and old ones, too!). I am very excited to announce that Marina Padilla, APRN is coming back to Ka’u Wellness to help serve the community! Marina used to work with us back in 2016-17, and is a Board-Certified Gerontology (Geriatrics) Advanced Nurse Practitioner who has gained a great deal of experience since we last worked together. She is starting with us on July (5th), and will be working part-time. She see patients over the age of 18. Please call the office at 808-939-8100 if you are interested.

We are pleased and excited to announce that we have a relationship with Ali'i Health and will be hosting visiting specialists at Ka'u Wellness in Ocean View starting May 2023. The 2nd Monday of every month, cardiology will be starting on May 8th, 2023 (June will be the 1st Monday due to King Kamehameha Holiday) with DNP, APRN, NP-C Jaime Westlund. If you are a current patient of theirs and would prefer to be seen in Ocean View, please let them know, if you are in need of a cardiologist discuss with your current Primary Care Provider about a referral and request Ocean view location, and spread the word to your family & friends who also may benefit from this outreach. It is available to ALL patients from ALL clinics in this area. We hope to then host other specialties from Ali'i Health on different days, and can update you once that happens.

Also, please remember and spread the word that Eye Care Hawai'i from Hilo (full-spectrum optometry) is also at Ka'u Wellness Ocean View location on the 1st Wednesday of every month, and that is open to anyone, also.
