Sheri Cook’s 2nd graders presented us with “Mystery Science Bags”! Each student placed a science-related item in a bag and shared four clues while everyone — classmates and residents alike — tried to guess what was hidden inside. Some mysteries were easier than others, but the whole activity was wonderful, and we truly enjoyed our time together.

It’s that special time of year again—Lefse season! We spent a wonderful day celebrating this beloved potato flatbread and the memories it brings. With the help of our volunteer, Shelby Wollenberg, we rolled and cooked plenty of lefse in the morning. Later, Petra Gunderson-Leith, archivist from the Clay County Historical Society, gave a delightful presentation on the history of lefse making and selling in our area.

We had a wonderful opportunity to create handmade Christmas cards! A big thank you to volunteer Ilene for providing all the materials and guiding us through the process. The cards turned out beautifully, and we had such a fun time!

Congratulations! Our girls are State Volleyball champions! It's been a really fun season for us to watch!

Top-seeded Hawley stormed back from an early deficit to record a 20-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-8 victory over No. 3 Chatfield in the Class AA championship match of the Minnesota State High School League's Girls Volleyball State Tournament at Grand Casino Arena in downtown St. Paul.

Deer hunting season is here! Many of us cherish the memories that come with this special time of year—not just the hunt itself, but the family gatherings, the storytelling, and of course, the delicious food. To celebrate, we enjoyed a hearty hunter’s breakfast this morning that spurred lots of memories and it was quite delicious as well!

It was a big send-off celebration for the Nugget Volleyball team! We showed our hometown pride by making spirited posters and cheering as they left for the state tournament. Good luck, girls — we’ll be cheering you on all the way!

Our painting crew has been busy bringing autumn to life on canvas. These charming stacked pumpkins turned out beautifully and added the perfect splash of fall fun to our day!
