Eye ointment products manufactured in India and sold in the US at major retailers like Walmart and CVS are being recalled due to a risk of infection.

Y’all !! This right here is prob one of the coolest days ever. Watching my friend’s kids get read to by one of our teachers, and then watching the kids dig through piles of books was so fulfilling.

Hey classmates, my little optical in Hawthorne is having a book reading / lunar new year celebration from 3-5 on Feb 10th. Please bring the kids by to hear one of my favorite, former HMHS teachers read “How to Catch a Dragon” in honor of Lunar New Year 🧧 & celebrate the beginning of the “Year of the Dragon” with us 🐉

There will be free books at Jenna’s Corner, The Lending Library 📚 . There will be sweets and beverages, as well as Lucky Red Envelopes 🧧 🍊 🍜 🌕

Our decorations for our Lunar New Year book reading are in !! We’ve got lucky gold coins ( chocolate of course ) Authentic Asian Inspired candies and Red Envelopes 🧧 for the kids. January is National Glaucoma awareness month.

Glaucoma is a silent thief of vision. Visual loss is so slow and most time painless. By the time a person realizes there is a problem, they’ve already suffered permanent vision loss.

Anyone can get glaucoma, but certain groups are at higher risk. These groups include African Americans and Hispanics over age 40, all people over age 60, people with a family history of glaucoma, and people who have diabetes. African Americans & Hispanics are 6 to 8 times more likely to get glaucoma than Caucasians.

Even with treatment ,15% to 20% of patients become blind in at least one eye in 15 to 20 years of follow-up. In a recent study, Peters et al. found that at the last visit before death, 42.2% of treated patients were text book blind unilaterally and 16.4% bilaterally.
