Seen a familiar face at Touro Dental Health?

Dr. Alex Dorrough, Class of 2020, has returned to Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College where he will be the first fellow training to treat patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a new program which aims to begin bridging the gap between specialized dentists, who can effectively treat adult patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with general dentists.

The program was made possible by generous support from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.

Our faculty providers are second to none! Today, let's learn more about Dr. Jerry Halpern 🥼

Dr. Halpern is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and also serves on the faculty of New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he teaches clinical oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Halpern has received numerous awards and has published and presented on topics ranging from oral cancer reconstruction to dental forensic identification. For almost a decade, he has dedicated his time to helping the children of Fundación MIR in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

You may also be surprised to know that Dr. Halpern holds another important title - President, New York Academy of Dentistry.

"I am honored to be president this centennial year . As with our past presidents, my role is to be true to the tenets of the academy, Media and communication allows organizations to grow and thrive. By utilizing social media platforms we can reach more of our colleagues and allow our academy to thrive, hopefully for another 100 years."
