Hello all,

This past weekend was full of fun across all of our programs!

At Clubhouse, the kids had a great day getting into the spring spirit. They made their own spring flowers in art, played in the gym, and enjoyed a fun and active day all around. Over at Escapades, the group celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by making Lucky Charms Rice Krispie treats and taking part in a leprechaun scavenger hunt, along with other festive activities! Our teens and adults spent the day at Blue Mountain, enjoying time outdoors, a BBQ lunch, arts and crafts and so much more. The teens then wrapped up the experience with an overnight stay at the cabin.

Hello all,

We had a fun-filled weekend across all of our programs!

Over at Escapades, the group got creative in the kitchen making their own pigs in the blanket and even crafted homemade lava lamps. At the Clubhouse, the kids hosted their very own Jr. Basketball Skills Tournament. They have been practicing during gym, and it was such a great event to see come together. A special thank you to our incredible staff and to the Girl Scout troop for helping make the day a success.

Our teens and adults had an exciting weekend as well, starting with a trip to the Discovery Science Center at Sacred Heart University, which was a whole lot of fun. The excitement continued on Sunday as they participated in their own basketball skills tournament at Rye High School. Our athletes brought home many different ribbons for their hard work and effort.

ITS A VERY SPECIAL DAY!

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone. Nancy is celebrating 40 years at North East ! 🥳

For four decades, Nancy has been a dedicated member of the North East family. Her hard work, compassion, and commitment have helped shape our programs and touched the lives of countless participants, families, and staff members along the way. The impact she has made over the years is truly immeasurable.

Nancy, thank you for your unwavering dedication and for the care and heart you bring to everything you do. North East is a better place because of you, and we are so grateful for the incredible impact you have made over the past 40 years. Here's to many more!

Hello all,

Another great weekend of programs is in the books!

Over at Escapades, the group celebrated the end of the Olympics with their very own Olympic-themed day. They created their own events, designed and made custom medals, and of course baked a sweet treat to top it all off. It was a fun and creative way to wrap up the games.

At Clubhouse, the kids stayed active with Miss Marlana, worked hard practicing for their basketball competition next weekend, and learned all about magnets during hobbies. It was a great mix of movement, teamwork, and hands-on learning.

Our teens and adults took a trip to the Palisades Mall for a North East favorite — the mall and movies trip! The group saw the new film GOAT and it was smiles all around.

Hello all!

Even though we did not have programs last weekend, we still had an exciting and successful few days. A group of athletes and coaches traveled to Rochester to compete in the Special Olympics New York Winter Games.
Our athletes competed in floorball skills and team events. We are proud to share that our team brought home gold in Division 2, and our skills athletes earned a variety of medals for their hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of all of our athletes and everything they accomplished

Our very own Nancy Bellini has been nominated for the 2026 Outstanding Coach of the Year Award for Special Olympics New York!!!

With a tremendous four decades of coaching experience, Nancy is one of our organization’s most dedicated coaches. From local competitions all the way to World Games, she’s inspired athletes at every level of competition, coaching year-round in multiple sports. The winner will be announced at Special Olympics New York’s State Winter Games Opening Ceremonies on Friday, February 20 in Rochester.

Hello everyone!

It was a wonderful weekend had by all. At Clubhouse our kids celebrated Valentine's Day AND Chinese New Year in style! They created beautiful paint roses in art class, crafted their own festive masks and learned all about Chinese New Year traditions in hobbies, and sang their hearts out to all their favorite songs in music! Meanwhile, our teens braved the cold weather for an exciting day out at Dave & Buster's! Our adults and Escapades program came together for the annual Valentine's in-house celebration! Saturday was filled with smiles as everyone decorated their own cupcakes, got creative with various arts and crafts projects, and enjoyed a sing-along with Miss Marlana!

Hello everyone!

Over the weekend, our programs were busy!

At Clubhouse, the kids had an awesome day getting creative with their own sculptures, dancing and singing along with Miss Marlena, and reconnecting with some old friends who stopped by to visit for the day. The day was filled with laughter, creativity, and lots of smiles. Over at Escapades, the group enjoyed a cozy Pajama Day! Everyone relaxed while doing arts and crafts, made their own delicious cinnamon buns, and settled in to watch a movie together. It was the perfect mix of fun and comfort.

Our teens and adults kicked off the year with their first Special Olympics competition! Hudson Valley hosted the Regional Floorball Competition at Hendrick Hudson High School, where North East was represented by four teams. All teams brought home medals — including 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze. We could not be prouder of our athletes and the hard work they put in. A huge thank you to our coaches and Special Olympics for making it such a memorable and successful day.

Hi everyone!

Our first program recap of the year is here!
We had an awesome week and weekend across our programs!
Our Clubhouse kids celebrated their second week in style with Superhero Day. Participants created their own superheroes in art, danced along with Miss Marlena, and enjoyed so many fun activities throughout the day. It was a great way to kick off the week. Over at Escapades, the group had a great time making their own snack, getting active with fitness, and jumping into arts and crafts. Of course, karaoke was a highlight and a crowd favorite as always. Our teens and adults didn’t let the cold weather stop them and headed out to the Norwalk Aquarium, where they enjoyed seeing some of their favorite sea creatures!

Hello everyone,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🥳

The first Weekend Away trip of the year was a huge success! Our group kicked off the year with a fun and memorable trip to Mystic, CT and didn’t let the cold winter weather slow them down. Participants visited the Naval Submarine Base in New London, explored exhibits at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, and spent time at the Norwalk Aquarium.
It was truly a great time had by all and the perfect way to start the year. Check out the pictures below from our weekend!
