We had a great time at Serve Our Willing Warriors - SOWW's 8th Annual Warrior Ride! 🚴

Our incredible team of nurses and staff proudly served as first aid support along the course, cheering on 277 cyclists as they rode in support of the Warrior Retreat at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run helping wounded warriors and their families. 🎖️

We used to think that a lot more boys had autism spectrum disorder (ASD) than girls. The numbers told the story: four times as many boys get a diagnosis as girls.

As researchers have focused more on how ASD shows up in girls, they’ve realized that the rates may not be that different after all. Because their symptoms are different, many girls and women are going undiagnosed until later in life. About 80% of girls with ASD don’t receive a diagnosis before they turn 18. And because of that, they’re not getting the support and help they could benefit from.

For the first time ever, our outpatient pharmacies dispensed 1 million medications in a single year!

This achievement is about more than volume: it’s about our pharmacy team’s commitment to meeting the needs of our patients by going above and beyond. Some of the key efforts leading to our service expansion include:

💊 In communities lacking local pharmacy services, our organization has aimed to fill the void. One of the most recent retail pharmacy locations we’ve opened is at Stoney Creek in Nellysford.
💊 The pharmacy team has extended its reach into ambulatory clinics in an effort to support more patients. Adding dedicated pharmacy technicians in more areas, including our UVA Cancer Center and UVA Health Children's clinics, allows us to provide support to a greater number of patients.
💊 The Meds 2 Beds Program, which delivers prescriptions directly to patients before they’re discharged from the hospital, is now servicing all acute care units.
💊 With the addition of new medications, our UVA Continuum Home Infusion Pharmacy is serving more patients who require complex infusion therapy to manage conditions like cancer, rheumatologic, and neurologic conditions.
💊 The UVA Specialty and Home Delivery Pharmacy, which delivers medications to patients via mail or courier, now serves patients in 14 states, with South Carolina, Colorado, and Florida added in the last year.

More than 80 Northern Virginia students are prepared for a future in medical and related fields after becoming the first class to spend four years in a high school program supported by our team members, departments, and initiatives in partnership with Prince William County Public Schools!

The intensive after-school program has earned national acclaim. Students learn skills such as dissecting animals, running gel samples, and lab safety. They’re also taught how to become professionals — and responsible scientists. 🩺🔬

After Taylor Swift spoke about her father's coronary artery disease on her now-fiancé Travis Kelce's podcast earlier this month, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) is thanking her for bringing attention to the benefits of nuclear stress testing.

Congratulations to our supply chain supervisor Renee Raffanello on being honored with a BEE Award! 🐝

BEE (Being Excellent Everyday) is a special award recognizing excellence among the team members who work alongside our nursing teams delivering expert, compassionate care.

Renee was the first to report to work as a winter storm severely impacted staffing levels across multiple sites. Under her manager’s guidance, she'd already taken the initiative to stock procedural units at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, and our medical center ahead of the storm, helping the system avoid major disruptions in care.
