Let me Rant! 😡 Please watch this short news story and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! We are going to circulate this message around the entire state to get the word out. These powerful PBMs must be stopped!
This is how valuable Pharmacy Benefits Managers think we are as trusted healthcare providers in our local communities. PBMs pay our small town, independently owned community pharmacies pennies. (literally 5 cents, 20 cents, many prescriptions we get paid below our costs.)
Massive chain pharmacies and the mail order pharmacies they own, according to an FTC investigation, found they are paid 30 to 100% MORE than a locally owned Mom and Pop pharmacy.
This “Professional Dispensing Fee” of $0.00 or a few pennies sure doesn’t make me feel very “professional.” I went to Pharmacy School, worked hard, and chose to come back to my hometown to SERVE this community. We love it here. We want to raise our kids here. We shop locally. We donate to local charities and sponsor local ball teams. Do these huge companies do that? Are they invested in your community? Big Question: If the independent pharmacies in our area are forced to close, are they coming to Claiborne Parish to allow you to get your medicine locally and will they take the time to really take care of YOU? Will they answer your questions and listen to your concerns? The answer is a resounding, “NO!” We aren’t BIG enough for them. They can’t make the BIG MONEY here because that’s all they care about. What a disgrace and slap in the face to every pharmacist and every Louisiana citizen that lives in these small, rural areas that depend on them.
All the while look at their profits last quarter…BILLIONS.
PBMs….how do you even sleep at night knowing you are stealing from the most trusted and readily available health care provider in every community?
With approximately 400 independent pharmacies in Louisiana, many are voicing concern about "unfair" dispensing fees set by pharmacy benefit managers.
