A friend sent this to us and we wanted to share.
This is the key to better healthcare for our kids and grandkids….
The PBM insanity MUST be stopped NOW!The quality of healthcare in AMERICA needs to stop declining. The United States should be leading the world in quality healthcare. We spend more on healthcare than any other country in the world. We just need to stop the hemorrhage of money to the PBM middlemen to lower drug costs and keep local pharmacies in our communities.
Community pharmacists are the quiet engines of American healthcare and one of the most underrated, overlooked and taken-for-granted professions in all of medicine.
We talk about doctors.
We talk about nurses.
We talk about hospitals.
But the one healthcare professional almost everyone sees more than anyone else is their pharmacist, yet they rarely get the recognition they deserve.
Most people think pharmacists “just fill prescriptions.”
If only it were that simple.
Behind that counter they’re:
• Catching life-threatening drug interactions
• Preventing unnecessary ER visits
• Managing chronic diseases day after day
• Counseling families who are scared and confused
• Explaining medications doctors didn’t have time to explain
• Vaccinating entire communities
• Guiding vulnerable patients who have no one else to ask
• Being the first stop when something feels wrong and you need answers right now
And they do it while juggling insurance headaches (like prior authorizations), PBM games (like audits, underpayments, and formulary changes), staffing shortages, corporate metrics to hit, unrealistic demands and the daily chaos of being the most accessible medical professional in America.
Think about this:
You can walk into a pharmacy ANY day of the week, talk to a highly trained medical expert with a doctorate degree and it costs you nothing. No appointment. No copay. No waiting room. No six-month delay to be “seen.”
Where else in healthcare does that exist?
It doesn’t.
That’s why pharmacists are the heartbeat of community health.
They know your parents’ meds by memory.
They know your child’s allergies.
They know your history better than your doctor sometimes.
They are the safeguard between you and a medication error that could change your life.
They’re the ones you call when the doctor’s office is closed, you’re panicking, and you need someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.
And yet…
they rarely get a spotlight.
Rarely get a thank you.
Rarely get treated like the medical experts they truly are.
The truth is simple:
Communities don’t stay healthy without community pharmacists.
They are essential.
They are irreplaceable.
And they deserve far more respect, recognition and support than they receive.
So the next time you pick up your prescription, take a second and thank your pharmacist.
They’re doing far more for you and your community than you’ll ever see.
Thank a pharmacist!
