Ted's Pharmacy

Ted's Pharmacy Ted's Pharmacy, located in downtown Haynesville, Louisiana, is owned and operated by pharmacist, Dan Our customers are our friends and neighbors.

Ted's Pharmacy is a second generation, 100% locally owned and operated small town, independent pharmacy that has been serving Haynesville and Claiborne Parish since 1974. A lot has changed over the years, but our values have remained unchanged, as well as the belief, that our customers are the heart of our business. Today, our knowledgeable and caring staff continues to work together to create a pharmacy experience that far exceeds customer expectations. We focus on fast, friendly service and excellent patient care. We take pride in the fact we offer everyday products and services at an affordable price that helps our valued customers lead healthier lives. We greet you with a smile and know you by name. We accept most major insurance and Medicare Part D plans. And remember, your co-pays are the SAME PRICE as they are at the BIG chains. Ted's Pharmacy also carries a full line of over-the-counter medications. Dan Ware, Registered Pharmacist and owner, is always avaliable to help you select a product appropriate for your symptoms, also taking into account medication you may be taking or health condition you have. And as always, at Ted's Pharmacy, "We're working hard to earn your trust!"

Big business pharmacy middlemen called PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) control most prescriptions. 😠

They are huge billion-dollar companies (like Fortune 500 giants). 💰

They pay our small local drug store way LESS money than it actually costs us to buy the medicine + put it in the bottle + hand it to you. 📉

We lose money every time we fill many of those prescriptions! 💸😔

But we have no choice…
If we say “no” to their contracts, we lose about 90% of our patients overnight. 🚫👥

We are just one tiny, locally owned community pharmacy.

They don’t care if we say yes or no — they have all the power. ⚖️❌

They ignore how important we are to our town:
• We help patients every day as the most trusted healthcare pros (surveys show it year after year!) 🩺❤️
• We donate thousands of dollars to local charities 🎁🤝
• We keep healthcare close and easy for everyone in our community 🏡

They only care about their own huge profits and making stockholders happy. 📈💰

And guess what?
These same big PBMs own their own pharmacies — which are our direct competition! 🏪 vs 🏪
It actually makes them more money if small stores like ours close…
Fewer local pharmacies = more prescriptions go to THEIR stores (mail order and brick and mortar stores) = even bigger profits for them. 😡

This isn’t fair. Small community pharmacies are hurting, and patients could lose their trusted local spot.
We need change! ✊

We have many bills this session and federally to fight these huge vertically integrated monopolies. Please support locally owned hometown pharmacies by calling your legislators and saying please PASS PBM REFORM!

For my friends with Louisiana Blue Insurance:

You may get a letter saying your copay or premium is increasing because of a new pharmacy law. They may imply local pharmacies caused it. That is false.

For years, PBMs (the insurance middlemen) have paid independent pharmacies LESS than what medications cost us to buy and fill — while paying their own mail-order pharmacies more. Many prescriptions were filled at a loss.

The new law simply says local pharmacies must be reimbursed at least the average cost of the drug plus a small dispensing fee. Not a bonus. Not a raise. Just not losing money.

Insurance companies don’t have to raise your costs because of this — they can adjust their own margins instead of blaming local pharmacies and steering patients to their own mail order pharmacies. Premiums have been rising long before this law. (See attached info below.)

We’re not asking for more profit. We’re asking to be paid fairly so we can stay open and continue caring for our community.

So true…

I walked into an independent pharmacy today not because it was trendy, not because it had a flashy app, but because it was there.

Before I even made it to the counter, someone looked up and said my name. Not because I scanned a QR code. Because they knew me.

They asked how I was doing and then paused long enough to actually hear the answer.

Behind the counter wasn’t a script or a call center three states away. It was a pharmacist who knew my history, my meds, my allergies, and the fact that the last time I was in, I wasn’t doing so great. They remembered. And that mattered more than any coupon ever could.

They caught a dosing issue before it became a problem. They explained a side effect I may experience. They asked if I could afford the medication and when I hesitated, they quietly worked to find a solution without making me feel small.

No algorithm did that.
No insurance company approved that moment.
No big data model predicted that care.

Big insurances and the PBMs they own can’t see this.

They don’t see the pharmacist who stays late to make sure an elderly patient doesn’t miss a dose.

They don’t see the staff who hand-deliver meds during heat waves, storms, or pandemics.

They don’t see the quiet counseling at the counter when someone is scared, sick, or running out of hope.

And major news media rarely shows it because it doesn’t fit into a headline about profits, mergers, or quarterly earnings.

But this is healthcare.

Independent pharmacies are not relics of the past. They are frontline healthcare access points. They are safety nets. They are trust, built one patient at a time.

When systems fail, these pharmacies don’t disappear.
They unlock the door.
They answer the phone.
They show up.

If you want to understand what healthcare should look like in America, don’t start with an insurance executive or a corporate press release or your PBM steering you to the mail order pharmacy they own.

Start by visiting an independent pharmacy and a human being who knows your name.
