Hays Medical Center HaysMed is a 200+ bed hospital providing the only tertiary-level services in the region.

As the premier provider in western Kansas for specialized care, HaysMed offers a wide variety of specialty programs. Hays Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital formed by the 1991 merger of two religiously affiliated facilities, and provides the only tertiary level services in the region. The organization's Vision Statement, developed collaboratively with local and regional physicians, hospital administrators and community board representatives, was refined to a single core purpose: "To Help People Be Healthy," and an overriding goal: "To Be the Best Tertiary Care Center in Rural America."

We enjoyed a special sneak peek at the new Bickle-Schmidt Athletic Complex, and we’re excited to share that HaysMed is a proud sponsor of this incredible addition to Fort Hays State University Athletics and campus.

Supporting FHSU and the schools across western Kansas is an important part of our mission, and we’re honored to help bring this state‑of‑the‑art facility to life for student‑athletes, and to enhance sports medicine care.

Today, we were honored to represent our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team during the Kansas Hospital Association’s Virtual Health Care Career Day, where more than 5,000 students from across Kansas tuned in!

We are proud to celebrate Lyndsey from the Center for Women’s Health for the extraordinary compassion she showed a family during one of their most difficult moments.

This year’s symposium features Kelly Flaska from The Center for Health Improvement, sharing valuable insights that blend clinical expertise with practical strategies to improve patient outcomes.

Attendees will explore timely, evidence‑based topics including GLP‑1s and GIPs, extreme weight loss management, nutrition challenges, the Alzheimer’s–diabetes connection, pre‑diabetes prevention, and the critical role of exercise in care. Co‑hosted with the KU Area Health Education Center.
