Care is about more than medicine, it’s about moments of compassion that make a difference.

Over the weekend, our PCU team learned that a patient was heartbroken about missing a tradition she’s cherished for years, hiding Easter eggs for her grandchildren. Knowing she couldn’t do it herself this year, our Associates stepped in to help hide eggs in the PCU lobby so her grandchildren could still enjoy their Easter egg hunt.

We also had a pediatric patient whose care team created the same kind of moment, helping make Easter feel special during an unexpected hospital stay.

These moments are never expected or guaranteed, but they reflect the kindness and creativity of our nurses and staff, meeting patients and families with compassion when it matters most.

We’re proud of the teams who go the extra mile to bring comfort, connection, and small moments of joy to those in our care.

Meet Lyla and Carter, twins who made a very special kind of history here at HaysMed. 💙🩷

Born a little early at 35 weeks, one of the twins needed extra care in our NICU. As mom Cammie recovered, our team was able to support the babies right away with pasteurized donor human milk thanks to our brand new partnership with Mothers' Milk Bank.

Here’s the incredible part… Cammie once donated over 230 ounces of her own milk through HaysMed’s milk donation program back in 2020. And now, in 2026, her own babies became the very first to receive donor milk through our newly expanded program.

A beautiful full-circle moment at HaysMed. 💞

This week HaysMed Associates had a great time helping students get a behind‑the‑scenes look at careers in healthcare.

More than 300 seventh‑grade students took part in the second annual Career Hunt at Fort Hays State University. The event featured hands‑on activities with 30 employers across 12 industries, giving students the chance to explore what their futures might hold.

HaysMed team members Audra Leiker, Clinical Instructor for Imaging, and Jessica Seib, Education Staff Development Coordinator, helped lead the medical career path. Emily Ricke, Human Resources Recruiter, and Jayne Inlow, Foundation Development Officer, also supported the event by moderating career path sessions throughout the day.

We’re proud of our Associates for sharing their knowledge, sparking curiosity, and helping students imagine what a future in healthcare could look like, right here in our community.

Typically, our monthly blood screening is held on the first Saturday of the month. However, due to the holiday weekend, we chose to prioritize family time and convenience for our community.

March is National Athletic Trainers Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the incredible HaysMed Athletic Trainers who keep student athletes across Western Kansas safe, healthy, and ready to perform.

Our 5 athletic trainers play a vital role in emergency response, injury prevention, recovery, and supporting long term wellness for athletes of all ages. They provide year round care to our partners and schools, including:
