Flower of a Tulip poplar tree. All trees must reproduce. Some species are monoecious, others are dioacious and some are referred to as hermaphrodite or bisexual. The Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) is an example of a hermaphroditic tree. Which means that each individual flower has both male and female parts.

It's a boy! Special delivery on northbound I-35 on the Kansas Turnpike Authority near the southern terminal plaza! On January 12, just after 4am, KHP Master Trooper Da'Von Brame received a call of a family heading to the hospital to have a baby, and they weren't going to make it! Master Trooper Brame and the father helped deliver the baby roadside just shortly after they stopped on the shoulder. Baby Pierson had arrived! Mom, Dad, and KHP's newest Junior Trooper Pierson made their way to the hospital and all are doing great! Pierson and his big brother will always have a KHP Trooper Bear watching out for them! Congratulations to the Rosales family!

Here’s a gentle reminder that a stop sign means to actually stop, look both directions, and ensure the right-of-way is clear before proceeding.

In the words of Master Trooper Reddy K-510, β€œIt’s *literally* in black and white!” πŸ˜†

A big thank you to everyone for the prayers, calls, comments and care packages Igor has received. Igor is recovering at home and is expected to be back at work in a few weeks.

Trooper Budke would also like to thank Hillside Veterinary Clinic in Hays and Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University for the excellent care they provided to Igor. πŸ™

Beau’s Story

Beau’s love affair with nature goes back to the beginning. When he was younger, Beau enjoyed climbing trees (sometimes falling off of them) and challenged himself to reach new heights. As Beau got older and started college, he realized that climbing trees wasn’t just a hobby he enjoyed when he was a child. After moving from Liberal, KS, he started to see the impact trees had on our surroundings and became very passionate about arboriculture and tree health care.

Beau began his professional working career during his sophomore year of college when he joined the team of a local tree company. Since that time he has participated in the 2016 National Collegiate Landscape Competition where he placed 8th in tree climbing, worked for a large commercial tree company in Roswell, GA, where he learned to work with cranes, and has worked as a foreman for the past two years.

During his down time, Beau enjoys doing wood working projects (he really loves trees), and venturing the countryside with his girlfriend Lauren, and their Newfoundland, Scarlett.

Beau is very well versed with trees and is more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
