I had an amazing weekend. I was stressed Saturday morning when I found out I had two mommas in labor, but the Lord completely took care of us. Two babies within 9 hours of each other and I was able to help with both. This my friends is total proof that God leads my ministry of helping women. A big thank you to Dacia, my back up for being on call for me. I couldn't do this without you.

Guess who their doula is???

Recognizing the importance of a mother's emotional support during labor, delivery and postpartum, RCH provides courtesy Doula services to patients, who deliver at RCH, with no out-of-pocket expense.
RCH's Doula meets with the mother and her partner prior to the birth to create a birth plan and discuss any preferences, concerns or needs. RCH's Doula stays with the mother throughout labor and delivery in on of RCH's Labor and Delivery suites.
Doula services include helping with breathing techniques, positioning assistance, offering massages, reassurance and comfort. Studies indicate with a Doula present at birth, women experience 25 percent shorter labors, 51 percent fewer C-sections and results in healthier babies that breastfeed longer.
RCH's Doula received training from the DONA International, the oldest, most respected doula association in the world. A doula's role doesn't replace that of a medical staff, instead a doula cares for the mother while enhancing the communication and understanding between her and the medical staff, who are focused on a safe deliver of the baby and assessing the medical condition of the mother.
RCH's Doula Services are limited to four newborns a month, so expecting mothers should contact RCH as soon as possible to take advantage of this service.

You're a mother no matter where you are or what you do.

This beautiful photo, taken by Tara Ruby Photography, has been removed from both her page and this one already today. I'm reposting it again to show the world that you CAN be in the military and successful at breastfeeding. I believe this is a first, to have a group photo of military moms breastfeeding in uniform (they were given permission by the PAO and Garrison Commander at Ft Bliss). These women are so strong, and should be honored and applauded for Giving the Breast for Baby and Country.

Just when you think you can't, you do!! That's the miracle of natural birth. Your body takes over when your mind thinks it can't go on. Women are powerful. Birth has many emotions. I'm thankful to see all of that lived out.

Beautiful birth yesterday! What an awesome team the couple was. They worked so well together to get that baby here safely. I met a new doctor and he was great. Now I have one more momma for August. I'm ready for a small break for a few weeks.

Had a sweet baby girl on Sunday who arrived in quick fashion and today I witnessed the vaginal birth of twins. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. God's power was so apparent today. I'm so thankful for each and every opportunity I have to see the power of a woman's body.

2 babies, 2 amazingly strong mommas, in 2 days has been amazing. My back is telling me that was too much, but my heart is so full. Birth changes you no matter if you're the support person or the momma, it changes you. I love it.

Any families out there with leftover diapers or pull-ups, looking for something to do with them? The orphanage my family and I serve at in Haiti is in need. We are going next week and would love to bless them with diapers. Let me know if you can help.
