Announcement!

As many of you know, Dr. Sharma closed his private practice in Hazard in August 2025 and joined KRMC in Jackson as the staff orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Sharma has decided that he will be PERMANENTLY RETIRING in the summer of 2026. As always, he wishes to extend his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all of his patients over the years. If you wish to see Dr. Sharma before his retirement, please contact the Kentucky River Orthopedic and Sports Medicine office at 606-666-2255.

As you are all aware, we recently closed the Hazard office to patients and Dr. Sharma is seeing patients now at Kentucky River Medical Center.

A recent audit of all accounts at the Hazard office has resulted in many of you with outstanding account balances receiving billing statements in the mail. Please take care of these matters promptly. ALL payments need to be mailed to the Hazard office location until further notice.

The schedule at Appalachian Orthopedic and Spine for an appointment in Hazard with Dr. Sharma is now CLOSED. No additional appointments are available at this time.

Just another reminder......
ALL NEW patients will need to call Jackson for scheduling. We are not taking any new patients in Hazard.
Established patients and emergencies can still call the office at 606-487-0888 while appointments last. Appointment slots are EXTREMELEY LIMITED and will fill up quickly.

Just a friendly reminder to all our current patients and future patients that as of August 15, 2025, Appalachian Orthopedic and Spine will be closing. Dr. Sharma is currently accepting new patients at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, KY. Call TODAY to get on the schedule! The number to schedule with Dr. Sharma in Jackson is 606-666-2255. Current patients will also need to call this number for scheduling to continue seeing Dr. Sharma at his new location.

On behalf of Dr. Sharma and staff, we at Appalachian Orthopedic and Spine hope that all of our patients follow him to Kentucky River Medical Center for all of your orthopedic needs. With that being said, we also understand that some of you are not able to do that and we want everyone to know that we have appreciated your unwaivering support through the many years that Dr. Sharma has been in practice. He's the longest practicing orthopedic surgeon in this area with 30+ years of experience!

For anyone who would like to obtain a copy of your medical records from our office, please call ahead at 606-487-0888 to get on the request list. We will be preparing records for pick up by request only. When your records are ready for pickup, we will contact you. Records can be picked up on WEDNESDAYS ONLY at the office. In order to make this process flow smoothly, please adhere to the record request guidelines just described.
