Moms are stronger than they think 👏🏼

If you were at the gym doing squats, walking lunges, or deadlifts, what dumbbells would you grab? 10s? 20s? 30s?

Now think about how much your child(ren) weighs…
Then add a purse, backpack, groceries, a diaper bag, maybe a car seat too. 🤷🏼‍♀️

You’re carrying, lifting, and moving that weight in real life all the time! You’re also probably walking, twisting, balancing, and multitasking while doing it.

Moms are usually pretty surprised when we actually make this comparison!

❗️ You are already strong ❗️
Stronger than you give yourself credit for.

So next time you’re in the gym, grab the heavier weights!
You might surprise yourself with how capable you really are 💪🏻

Dry needling for low back + SI pain 👇🏻

This is something I’m excited about incorporating especially when it makes sense for the person in front of me.

We can use it not just for “tight muscles,” but to help with pain, muscle activation, and how the area is functioning overall. In this case, I’m pairing it with electrical stimulation as well.

It’s not the only thing we do, and it’s definitely not for everyone, but it can be a really helpful addition alongside movement and strength work.

If you’ve been dealing with low back or SI discomfort and have been curious about it, feel free to reach out and we can chat about if it’s a good fit for you!

“Should I push through this or stop?”

The answer isn’t always black and white!

When returning to workouts or building strength, some level of discomfort can be normal. Muscles and joints that haven’t been challenged in a while may feel stiff, achy, or tired as they adapt to load again.

But there’s a difference between productive discomfort and pain that signals something needs to change.

That’s where the red light / green light concept can be helpful.

Green light discomfort is usually mild and doesn’t worsen as you continue moving. Red light pain is sharper, more intense, or creates symptoms like catching or radiating pain.

The goal isn’t to completely avoid pain, but learn how to adjust when needed so you can keep progressing.

Sometimes that means modifying the movement, slowing the tempo, reducing load, or working on supporting exercises.

“No pain no gain” isn’t always the answer.
We can still build capacity while listening to our bodies!

Save this as a quick reference for your workouts!

Congratulations Miners!! It’s been a fun season to watch 🥳💪🏻

I’m back in the office! 😁

We had an incredible trip and feel so blessed to have experienced such an amazing country. It was the perfect mix of relaxing and adventure with some hiking, surfing, and climbing a waterfall! It had me thinking a lot about training for real life.

After all those adventures, one thing stood out: how good it felt to feel capable and confident doing those things.

Split squats, incline walking, pushups, rows… they’re not always the most glamorous exercises in the moment. But they pay off when it comes to real-life experiences.

Training or exercising isn’t always about motivation, but about dedicating yourself to becoming a more capable version of yourself so you don’t have to sit on the sidelines. Whether that’s on vacation, playing with kids or grandkids, or just doing the things you enjoy.

If you’ve been struggling with consistency, take a step back and find your why. That usually helps get things moving again.

Have a great week everyone!

New service coming soon 👏🏼

Over the weekend, I completed my training in dry needling for lumbopelvic and lower extremity conditions and I’m excited to start incorporating it into care!

This training goes beyond just treating “trigger points.” Dry needling can also be used around nerves, tendons, ligaments, and joint structures to help improve circulation, decrease sensitivity, and support tissue healing in chronic pain conditions. It’s rooted in western musculoskeletal diagnoses and guided by current evidence.

This allows us to target specific conditions like mechanical low back pain, sciatica, hip dysfunction, knee arthritis, Achilles issues, plantar fasciitis, and more as part of a comprehensive treatment plan!

As always, it’s about adding tools that can help the right patient at the right time.

More details to come, but I’m excited to bring this option into the clinic!

Ankles are often treated like they’re “simple” joints.
Rest it. Brace it. Modify around it. Move on.

But a lot of persistent ankle pain isn’t just about the initial irritation, it’s about what happened after!

Common things I see with ongoing ankle issues:
• Loss of dorsiflexion (limited forward bend)
• Poor single-leg stability
• Hesitation to fully load it
• Stiff joints that never regained motion
• Weakness in the foot/ankle complex

When the ankle doesn’t move or load well, other areas start compensating like your knees, hips, even low back.

Rehab shouldn’t be banded exercises or temporary relief.
It’s about restoring mobility, rebuilding strength, and improving control so the ankle can handle real-life demands again.

If your ankle still feels stiff, unstable, or sore months later, it’s probably not something you just have to live with!
