As our one year anniversary day comes to an end, we thought it would be fun to share a few highlights from this past year.

-On our very first day, May 1, 2025, we saw 10 patients. That felt like such an accomplishment. We were worried we might not see anyone at all and were even too nervous to advertise before we had officially opened.

-Over the past year, we’ve been incredibly blessed to earn the trust of 7,694 patients who chose us for their care.

-Our record number of patients seen in a single day was 74 (with just one provider, one nurse, one tech, and our front desk staff!). We may be a small clinic, but we were definitely mighty during those busy flu season days.

These numbers only show a small glimpse of how hard our team has worked this past year. We are so grateful for this group of employees and their dedication to Headland Urgent Care and to our community. We truly are blessed with the best.

Today we celebrate ONE year of Headland Urgent Care! 🎉
It’s hard to believe how quickly this past year has flown by. What started as a dream for Dr. McDonald has grown into something truly special, and we couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come. Watching this vision come to life and flourish has been such a blessing, and it would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community.

We are beyond thankful for each and every patient who has trusted us with their care over the past year. Your kindness, encouragement, and support have meant more to us than you know. We are also so grateful for our hardworking staff. Our team goes above and beyond every single day, and we have truly been blessed with employees who feel more like family.

If you swing by today, please help yourself to refreshments in the lobby as a small token of our appreciation for your continued support. We hope you’ll celebrate with us!

📣 Important Insurance Update for Our Patients

Beginning May 1, UnitedHealthcare will begin enforcing a policy change that may affect how your visit is covered at our office.

While this policy was introduced earlier this year, the grace period ends tomorrow, meaning claims may now be denied if required referrals are not on file.

Because our clinic is classified as a specialty provider, some UnitedHealthcare plans (especially Medicare Advantage HMO/POS plans) may now require a referral from your primary care provider (P*P) for your visit to be covered.

➡️ What this means for you:
• If a referral is required and not on file, your visit may not be covered by insurance
• Requirements vary depending on your specific plan

➡️ What you can do:
• Contact your P*P to obtain a referral before your visit (if required)
• Call your insurance company to verify your benefits
• Reach out to our office—we’re happy to help guide you

Important Notice to our Community🩵

We are so grateful for the support of our community. We’ve seen record-breaking patient volumes through December and now into February.

With flu season on the rise, we kindly ask for your patience as we work to see as many patients as possible each day. We sincerely apologize for times when we’ve had to reach capacity and stop seeing patients earlier than closing. Please understand this also allows our staff to get off at a reasonable time so they can return the next morning ready to care for you.

We will continue working quickly and efficiently to see as many patients as possible each day. Thank you for your understanding.
