We crossed into Italy and hiked 8.5 miles with 2500 ft elevation gain at Val Ferret. Here it's called Monte Bianco. The highlights were the views (of course) and the horses, cows and sheep. We even saw a newborn lamb and it's mother.

We had an incredible pasta lunch at Refugio Bonati.

That's a wrap. My goal was to finish under 3 hours. I was doing an average of 3 seconds/mile better than my goal pace until mile 11 when I fell. The good news is that my knee pads worked perfectly, and my knees didn’t feel a thing! The bad news is that my calf muscles stopped working, and I couldn't move my ankle for several seconds. At first, I thought it was a normal muscle cramp, but when I couldn't bend my ankle, I realized it was an "MS Moment." doesn't weaken the muscles, but rather, it is a neurological disease that attacks the brain's connection to the muscles. So while I was sitting on the course, I concentrated really hard on bending my ankle, trying to send successful brain signals through my neurons to get my muscle to move. And eventually, it did! Whew! I finally was able to get up, but the last 2.1 miles of the race took over an hour. I may have been the last finisher, but I made it! And with views like these along the bike trail, so what if it took longer than expected.

350 days of continuous walking in heat, rain, sleet, and snow. It doesn't matter how far or how fast, just that you go. I'm not back to my running baseline yet, but I know consistency will get me there. One day at a time.
