The goal is to avoid anything that can break brackets, bend wires, or get stuck and cause decay.

These put too much pressure on your braces:
🍭 Hard candy
🧊 Ice (don’t chew it!)
🥕 Whole raw carrots (unless cut small or cooked)
🥜 Nuts

These cling to brackets and wires:
- Caramel
🍬 Taffy
- Gummy candies
- Gum

Biting directly with your front teeth is risky:
- Corn on the cob (cut it off instead)
🍎 Whole apples (slice them!)
🥩 Ribs or chicken wings (remove meat from bone)
🥯 Thick sandwiches or bagels

Braces make it easier for sugar to hang around:
🥤 Soda
- Sports/energy drinks
- Candy
