Back in January, I opened applications for the 2026 "Legacy of Healing: The Dr. Stephanie Thompson Nursing Scholarship" as part of my birthday tradition — and now we're coming down to the wire.
If you're a Heber Springs High School senior with a heart for nursing, this is your final call to apply. Don't let this one slip by because you waited too long or talked yourself out of it.
Every year, I get the privilege of reading applications from students who feel that same pull I felt back in the day — the calling to care for people in their hardest moments, to be a steady presence, to heal. As a proud HSHS Class of 1998 graduate, presenting this $500 award at the spring awards ceremony is genuinely one of the highlights of my year.
Nursing gave me purpose, community, and a career I love. If that calling is tugging at you too, I want to hear your story.

Each year on my birthday, I celebrate by empowering a passionate Heber Springs High School senior who dreams of a future in nursing. This scholarship isn't just about financial support—it's about fostering the next generation of healthcare heroes who will carry forward a legacy of compassion, excellence, and innovation in our community.

As a proud Class of 1998 Heber Springs High School graduate, this scholarship is my way of giving back to the school and community that raised me. Each year on my birthday, I open applications for one or more HSHS seniors with a heart for nursing. The $500 award is presented at the spring awards ceremony—and it's one of my favorite moments of the year. This scholarship is about more than money—it's about believing in someone's dream to heal, serve, and make a difference in the lives of others.
