Birth with Joy

Birth with Joy is a small practice providing midwifery care including prenatal, home birth, and postpartum care. I also teach out of hospital NRP classes!

I am located near Norris TN and am serving Knoxville, TN and the surrounding East TN Area.

I am looking to schedule and teach a NRP skills class soon in the Knoxville area. I have 3 people wanting a class and am hoping to find a few more! If anyone else is needing NRP certification or renewal please reach out and let me know!

I am an RN and CPM-TN with over 18 years experience teaching NRP and training midwives, midwifery students, doulas, and birth assistants etc. NRP skills as applicable to an out of hospital setting.

A little sadly announcing that Birth with Joy has moved. I've relocated to Eastern TN with my family and am no longer accepting patients in New Mexico at this time.

Once we settle into life here for awhile I hope to transfer my midwifery license and start up my practice again here - but for the time being, my midwifery practice is on hold.

I'm thankful for the years I got to be a part of the homebirthing community in New Mexico and for all the amazing families I've worked with and beautiful births I've been blessed to be a part of.

Midwifery is very near and dear to my heart and I look forward to the day where I can once again post births announcements on this page ❤

Happy birthday Faith! Another beautiful waterbirth this afternoon for this perfectly adorable 8lb 5oz little girl. She swam to daddy and he got to lift her up out of the water and into her mom's eagerly waiting arms.

A lovely birth I was blessed to be a part of and my third birth and baby girl to help be born in the past 6 days!

A little over 7 years ago I helped my sister birth her firstborn and her husband catch their first son. A few years later - their second son. A few years later - their first daughter. And in the bright and early hours of this morning their second daughter - weighing in at 6lbs 5oz!

Happy birthday Kayden! Last year I was blessed to help welcome her sister into the world. In the early hours of the morning on August 16th I was equally blessed to help daddy catch this beautiful girl in the birth pool!

She weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and came fast after only an hour and a half of labor. Way to go mama!

Blessed to help welcome Judah into the world yesterday morning. His mama is such a strong woman. Her 4th baby and her hardest labor - perhaps due to the fact that he weighed in at 9lbs 3oz and his biggest sibling had been 7lbs 6oz!

Very proud of this momma for her perseverance! Though at many moments it seemed impossible to her - she DID it and birthed a beautiful son!

One of the biggest babies I've caught made his grand entrance into the world yesterday late afternoon - weighing in at 9lbs 15oz!

His mama worked hard to bring him into the world. He was born at home in a birth pool and was greeted with triumph by his mom and dad and soon after by his two big sisters and one big brother.

Happy birthday a day late big boy!

Happy birthday Philippa! At 8 days past your due date your family was SO ready to meet all 9lbs 2oz of you this late afternoon!

This mama made birthing look incredibly easy. Another lovely water birth with a simply beautiful family 💜

Happy birthday Santino!

After teasing his mama and midwife for a week this little 6lb 15oz boy finally decided to come in the early hours of this morning. One day after his due date and a beautiful waterbirth with a lovely family! 💙

We were expecting a surprise baby (boy or girl?) but were not expecting this little one to come before her midwife could get there!

Little 7lb 12oz Isabel was caught by her daddy while on speaker phone with me and everyone did marvelously! Way to go daddy!

Such a beautiful little girl and very celebrated by her family as the first girl with two older brothers to look out for her. 💜
