Birth with Joy is a small practice providing midwifery care including prenatal, home birth, and postpartum care. I also teach out of hospital NRP classes!

I am located near Norris TN and am serving Knoxville, TN and the surrounding East TN Area.

Having caught three boys in the past few months, it was wonderful to help a first-time dad catch his newborn daughter, weighing 7lb 5oz, yesterday during the early afternoon. Such a peaceful little girl!

She had a true knot in her, thankfully long, umbilical cord to boot!

This mom was nothing short of amazing! First birth, amazing support from her husband and family, just over five hours of labor and a happy healthy 9lb 6oz baby boy who came out with his hand up under his chin in the birth pool! And ON his actually due date!

Such a beautiful birth to be present for and a beautiful family to come alongside ❤️

Happy birthday you big beautiful boy! You've certainly been blessed with an incredibly strong mother and an amazing dad and family!

This creative art work and these specific words had been carefully chosen by this woman and her family to prepare herself and her birth space for the new arrival. Very aptly chosen as the words "Surender" and "Yes you can" became such an intricate part of her birth story yesterday in such a beautiful way!

Yes she could do it and yes she did as she surrendered, let go of her fears and trusted her body!

Blessed to help welcome another baby boy (7lbs 11oz) yesterday, August 22nd, and to be part of such a beautiful and redeeming experience for his family!

This incredible smile, full of such joy, that says more than words possibly could!
"Look at what I just did!"
"Did I just do that? That was hard!"
"Just look at him! He's finally here after all that waiting!"
"Thank you God!"

This sleeping dad in the background, exhausted and taking a well earned rest after providing the unwavering strength and support his wife needed all through the night and into the morning.

At 41 weeks, after testing his momma's patience far beyond what she thought was possible, Joshua finally made his appearance this morning at 5:40am weighing in at a grand 9lbs 3oz!

This picture sums up so beautifully why I love and am so passionate about midwifery and home birth.

This birth made my soul sing! How I have missed being a midwife and experiencing the honor of and privilege of helping welcome a new life into the world within a family's home! Thankful and so very blessed!

I am looking to schedule and teach a NRP skills class soon in the Knoxville area. I have 3 people wanting a class and am hoping to find a few more! If anyone else is needing NRP certification or renewal please reach out and let me know!

I am an RN and CPM-TN with over 18 years experience teaching NRP and training midwives, midwifery students, doulas, and birth assistants etc. NRP skills as applicable to an out of hospital setting.

A little sadly announcing that Birth with Joy has moved. I've relocated to Eastern TN with my family and am no longer accepting patients in New Mexico at this time.

Once we settle into life here for awhile I hope to transfer my midwifery license and start up my practice again here - but for the time being, my midwifery practice is on hold.

I'm thankful for the years I got to be a part of the homebirthing community in New Mexico and for all the amazing families I've worked with and beautiful births I've been blessed to be a part of.

Midwifery is very near and dear to my heart and I look forward to the day where I can once again post births announcements on this page ❤

Happy birthday Faith! Another beautiful waterbirth this afternoon for this perfectly adorable 8lb 5oz little girl. She swam to daddy and he got to lift her up out of the water and into her mom's eagerly waiting arms.

A lovely birth I was blessed to be a part of and my third birth and baby girl to help be born in the past 6 days!

A little over 7 years ago I helped my sister birth her firstborn and her husband catch their first son. A few years later - their second son. A few years later - their first daughter. And in the bright and early hours of this morning their second daughter - weighing in at 6lbs 5oz!

Happy birthday Summer and congratulations Brad and Joanna. She's adorable 😍.

Happy birthday Kayden! Last year I was blessed to help welcome her sister into the world. In the early hours of the morning on August 16th I was equally blessed to help daddy catch this beautiful girl in the birth pool!

She weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and came fast after only an hour and a half of labor. Way to go mama!
