Big Sky Care Connect’s Health Information Exchange is a single, electronic repository of Montanan’s electronic health records, allowing skilled nursing homes, and any participating provider, to access patients’ medical information across care settings. As LTC providers know, most patient information from different providers is not easily available, since disparate EHR’s don’t “communicate with each other.” BSCC’s HIE is helping solve this problem. We are Montana’s state-designated (and only) HIE. If you become a BSCC Partner, you’ll be able to contribute resident information to the repository; AND, you’ll be able to access more timely, accurate and comprehensive information about current, past and potential residents.

Meet MHCA's 2023 Activity Director course participants with their instructor, Connie Ratti! Tomorrow this group of bright, vibrant and committed activity professionals will sit for their certification exam. This week they have gained professional knowledge, including the skills to assess, document and care plan. They will return to their communities with new ideas to help enrich the quality of life of their residents by keeping them engaged and motivated! Keep your ear out for harmonicas and ukuleles playing in Montana long term care communities in the very near future!

Montana Health Care Association's Vice President Carla Wilton, Chief Operating Officer at Immanuel Lutheran Communities in Kalispell, testifies before the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing, "An Abiding Commitment to Those Who Served: Examining Veterans' Access to Long Term Care." During the hearing Senators questioned CMS on the merits of a staffing mandate for skilled nursing facilities, calling the federal mandate "unrealistic." Ms. Wilton discusses the specific challenges facing many of Montana's communities, including how low Medicaid rates compound those challenges.
