On the 6th of June in 1944, a total of 4414 Allied soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during the D-Day invasion. Among them, 2501 were American troops, and an additional 5000 were wounded. As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of this historic event, it is important to reflect on those who have passed and show appreciation for those who are still among us. Today, only about 1% of the Greatest Generation who fought in World War II are still alive. We send our heartfelt thoughts to those we remember and express our gratitude to those who continue to share their stories with us.
My Grandfather served in the Army as a Technician 5th Grade, in the 325 Medical Battalion, 100th Division. Battles included Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe including the Battle of the Bulge.
