❄️ Winter Falls Are the #1 Cause of Injury for Seniors — But Most Can Be Prevented! ❄️
At Headwaters Hospice & Palliative Care, we want every older adult in our community to stay safe, strong, and independent this winter. Here’s our top checklist to prevent slips and falls:
✅ Clear ice & snow from walkways, steps, and driveways EVERY day (salt or sand helps!)
✅ Wear shoes with good traction — skip the slippers outside
✅ Use a cane or walker with an ice-pick tip (we can help you get one)
✅ Keep a small bag of kitty litter or salt in your coat pocket for unexpected icy spots
✅ Turn on outside lights at dusk — poor visibility = higher risk
✅ Hold the handrail EVERY time you use stairs (even just 2-3 steps)
✅ Keep a charged phone in your pocket in case you need to call for help
✅ Ask for help — neighbors, family, or our team are happy to lend a hand
A fall can change everything in an instant. Let’s keep our seniors safe so they can enjoy hot cocoa by the fire instead of a trip to the ER.

What a heartwarming day filled with holiday spirit! We gathered to decorate cookies, sip delicious hot cocoa, and sing beloved traditional Christmas songs together. The joy and connection in the room were truly special. ❤️

I want to clear up a big misconception about hospice that breaks my heart every time I hear it:
So many people think choosing hospice means “giving up.”
That it’s about staying in bed, waiting for the end.
It’s not.
It’s actually the opposite.
Hospice is about giving you the freedom to LIVE your final chapter exactly the way YOU want.
It’s about trading aggressive treatments that make you feel awful for comfort, energy, and time—time to check off those last bucket-list items you’ve been dreaming about.

That concert you’ve always wanted to see? We’ll help make it happen.
A trip to the lake with your toes in the sand one more time? Let’s go.
Dinner with all your kids and grandkids laughing around the table? We’ll bring the party to you—or get you there.

🎄 What an incredible weekend at the 38th Annual Festival of Trees! 🎅🏻
✨ Our amazing team poured their hearts into creating some truly outstanding trees that lit up the room (and the holidays!) – and we're thrilled to share that we raised a whopping $575 for Intermountain Children's Home. Every dollar counts toward supporting those incredible kids and families.
A huge shoutout to our talented crew for bringing the magic to life – your creativity and dedication made it all shine! And special congrats to Heather and Melinda on their stunning wreath, which earned an honorable mention in the adult category. You two are rockstars! 🎄🥉

A fun activity in Butte this weekend!

🎅 Boy oh boy, do we have exciting news!
Santa is coming to our Parade of Trees!

Santa will be at Big Sky on Waterford this Saturday from 5–6 p.m.
So gather up the whole family and join us for this fun-filled holiday event!

A festive scavenger hunt

Tour over 70 beautifully decorated trees

16 trees up for auction—all proceeds donated to the Alzheimer’s Association Montana Chapter
