📣 FROM APTA:

Montana Medicaid Update – February 2026 | APTA Montana Members

APTA Montana is keeping a close eye on updates from Montana Medicaid so our members can stay informed, compliant, and focused on patient care.

Key reminders from the February 2026 Montana Healthcare Programs Claim Jumper: https://medicaidprovider.mt.gov/cjnewsletters

- Therapy services must have a valid physician or mid-level order/referral before care begins
- Verbal orders require written follow-up within 30 days
- Orders/referrals are valid for 180 days — services beyond that timeframe require a new order and a new plan of care
- Providers are required to revalidate Medicaid enrollment every 5 years — missing deadlines can result in payment suspension
- Electronic claims submission training is available to help reduce delays and denials

📊 The newsletter also highlights common claim denial reasons, updated fee schedules (including PT, OT, and SLP), and upcoming provider trainings.

APTA Montana will continue reviewing Medicaid updates and sharing what matters most for physical therapy practice, compliance, and access to care across our state.
