A new clients response to why they want to do pilates. Why do you exercise?

01/15/2026

During a recent consultation at Aspen & Pine Pilates, a client said something we’ll never forget:
“I’m in the relentless pursuit of the best me.”

That’s our dream client.
Whether you train in person in Helena or online from anywhere, Pilates here is about starting now—not “someday.” Every week you wait is another week your future self doesn’t get stronger or
more flexible.

If that sentence resonates, don’t scroll past it.
This is your sign to begin. Text 406.540.8240 or head to https://aspenpinepilates.com/new-clients

Pilates is Strong with help from the wunda chair. Because pilates is more than core work!

The internet loves to say Pilates “isn’t enough.” But what people usually mean is: they aren’t seeing progressive resistance and controlled eccentrics. (check out our blog to discover what eccentric training is all about). www.aspenpinepilates.com/blog

Classical Pilates—done as designed—checks those boxes:
Springs create scalable resistance.
The return phase forces eccentric control.
Precision and alignment keep the load where it belongs.

When you truly close the springs with control, Pilates stops being “movement class” and becomes what it has always been: strength training with an uncompromising standard.

MU is doing Going up Front the Classical pilates version of a step up.

The internet is currently saturated with a familiar message: “Pilates is not enough—you need to strength train.” Scroll long enough and you will see Pilates positioned as mobility work, a warm-up, or a supplement—something “nice to add,” but insufficient for building real strength, protecting joints, or aging well.

At Aspen & Pine Pilates, we disagree—and we are not doing so from a place of nostalgia or brand loyalty, but from biomechanics, exercise science, and decades of observation. The problem is not Pilates. The problem is how Pilates is often practiced, taught, and represented online.

We will address that comparison directly string with—the step-up and classical Pilates work on the Gratz Wunda Chair with the exercise Going up Front . A clear example of how properly applied Pilates is strength training. Not diluted, not modified to keep people moving, and not reliant on momentum—but progressive, joint-protective, and capable of building measurable strength where it matters most.

Here is a small bit of our blog :
Working on a Gratz Wunda Chair refines the nervous system’s understanding of:
Where the knee belongs
How force travels through the hip
How to control load without bracing or gripping
That refinement carries directly into step-ups on the floor. Clients who struggle with valgus or knee lag during step-ups often resolve it faster once they experience the same demand under spring resistance.
The chair builds clarity. The step-up tests whether that clarity transfers to life.
