Feathered Pipe

Feathered Pipe ~ America's finest health, wellness and yoga retreats and travel ~ Carlos Nakai – to name only a few – are honored alumni of the Feathered Pipe.

The Feathered Pipe Ranch is one of the country’s premier yoga and conscious living retreat centers. Tucked in the heart of the Montana Rockies and surrounded by miles of forested mountains, it is a vibrant and peaceful oasis to which our guests return eagerly year after year – inevitably leaving the Ranch feeling recharged and relaxed – and counting the days until they can again return. The Ranch has been home to yoga and meditation retreats and a host of other personal growth programs since 1975, helping people experience our wholeness and remember our intimate connection to all of life. Many of today’s foremost voices on yoga, meditation, wellness and health have come through our doors at one time or another, with many of them getting their start as a student through our scholarship fund. Joseph Campbell, Dr. Andrew Weil, Lilias Folan, Angela Farmer, Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden, Erich Schiffmann, Judith Hanson Lasater, Seane Corn, and world-renowned Native American flutists, R. The Ranch is nestled amidst almost a million acres of national forestland and offers an ideal setting for true retreat experience, allowing the space within and without to experience the essence of one’s self and nature. Visitors can wander alone exploring ambling brooks fed by pure mountain springs and discover open vistas to view the world below and the Big Sky above. Ranch retreat visitors can just as easily find community with others, sitting on the open lawn in the shade of cottonwood trees, quaking aspens, and fragrant pine with an exquisite view out over the lake with Lake Tipi and mountain woodlands reflected. Horseback riding is available for those wishing to view the world from a truly Montanan point of view.

is always there to add her sparkle to Feathered Pipe ✨ Today we are wishing her the happiest of birthdays!!

Over the last year, Marissa has taken over as a Social Media Manager at Feathered Pipe, all while maintaining her staff position, taking college courses, and working with the Feathered Pipe Foundation. Despite her busy schedule, Marissa finds time to crack jokes and keep up the high spirits of guests and staff at the Ranch!

Marissa's creativity and drive shine through everyday, and we are so lucky to have her as a part of the team. Happy Birthday, Marissa! 💞

As of 1pm Sunday October 5th, the last shuttle of guests waved goodbye to the Feathered Pipe for the final time of the 2025 season. What a whirlwind this 50th anniversary season has been for all of us. 16 back to back retreats were hosted with well over 1,000 faces entering this little slice of paradise nestled in the Helena National Forest. Laughs, tears, stories, meals, and more were shared all season without a dull moment, creating tens of thousands of different memories we each hold in a unique place in our hearts.

To those we got to share this special season with, thank you from every fiber of our being for coming and bringing your energy and letting us and the land nurture you and your soul. Our work starts with each and every person whose face we see on arrival day and we wouldn’t be here without you all. Huge thank you to all of our teachers and assistants who came with the supplies and open hearts to give their teachings and tools for us to learn from as well. All of you brought such amazing groups and were nothing but kind and loving to us all. To our staff and Feathered Pipe Foundation Board, thank you for the tireless hours of work and dedication you put into this season. All that you have done hasn’t gone unnoticed and each of you carry something so deep and special and we can’t wait to see what you all get up to this winter. To Eric, Crystal, and Anne, deep gratitude to each of you for the immense behind the scenes work you guys do that keeps the Feathered Pipe alive season after season. You guys embody the true spirit of seva and inspire all of us every day to go in with our best foot forward, even on the worst of days. And finally, thank you India and all of those past who helped create the Ranch to be what it is today. We wouldn’t be here without the 50 years of work and dedication of every person who has put one dish, one meal, one log down and out. India, your spirit will live here forever both here and within all of us and we continue our work to keep your mission alive. Cheers to an enriching 50th season and welcome winter and rest for all of us!

Therefore, think of yourself as a non-physical spiritual being temporarily being physical and human, who will always have a form of one sort or another identifying your identity.

Know that when your time here is up you will go on to new adventures and learnings, and that you will be just as alive then as you are now. Know also that you came here to be here in order to learn from the experiences that are possible in this particular environment. You came for the prize of experience: wisdom.

"Fifty years ago this week, Real Food Store (Real Food Market & Deli) opened in Helena. The store was ahead of its time; the health food trend that we know of today hadn't come into its own. Real Food was a first for Helena, but it came together by chance.

Saturday, October 11th, there will be a celebration of the anniversary. You can expect a live band and a face painter from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., vendors with free samples, 50 percent off the hot and salad bars, and raffles and gift baskets throughout the day."

"Death and life are interconnected. Every cell of our body is continually in the process of dying and being born. The true nature of reality is beyond conventional ideas of birth and death. But this is not a denial of physical birth or death, the historical dimension of our lives. Instead, this is the realization that there’s no permanent, unchanging self that is born and dies. There is an ultimate dimension of self."

Through grief, Valerie Brown discovers there’s no beginning and no end. Like waves, we rise and fall—but we never leave the ocean of being.

How can we embrace our individuality while interacting gracefully with this body, breath, heart, spirit, thoughts/ mind, and our environment? Through the practices of knowing our own inner workings and how we respond to stressors we find essential keys to our own unique sense of wellbeing and balance.

Our natural state is balance, a sacred space where we experience equanimity within our own beings and true harmony with our surroundings.

Allowing is the art of receiving.
Receiving is the secret of giving.
Giving is the process of manifestation.
Manifestation is the road to prosperity.
