1. Improves mood
2. Improves nutrient uptake- whenever glycogen stores are depleted in the liver- it increases protein and fat digestion so we can absorb food better.
3 improves sleep- but…try not to work out less than 3 hours before bed
4. Boost Energy- (just don’t over do it). Improves mitochondria function.
5. Balances the immune system, Th1/Th2, moves oxygen throughout the body and moves waste through the lymphatic system…

Time for breakfast? I am not a big breakfast person, in fact I used to skip it all together. I didn’t realize that by skipping meals I was depleting my body of needed nutrition.. So now I make sure I drink a protein / nutrient shake every morning. I feel the energy of the functional medicine vitamins in away that conventional vitamins cannot give me.. ( they do not absorb in the body as well). Plus I can drink it on the go- at the gym or dropping off grandkids at daycare.. Dm me for more info or interested in giving it a try..

The healthy road is narrow.. it contradicts society’s overindulgence of sugar, processed foods and alcohol . It detoxifies. It moves the body daily. It searches for organic nontoxic foods in grocery stores and restaurants. It strives to have a healthy circadian rhythm. It removes toxins and replenishes low essential nutrients. It continues to strive for homeostasis. Its focus is to allow the body to reach its natural state so it can heal itself.. it’s beautiful!

As a RN working as a school nurse for 20 years I started flinching every time I realized that more and more students were taking ADHD medication.. What was going on? What was increasing the usage? Realizing it’s not about hurrying up to cross a finish line but it is about enjoying the journey along the way.. not looking at my watch but enjoying the pull and stretch of each muscle.. to affirm myself for trying instead of comparing and putting myself down.. enjoy the process! Walking, running and hiking in nature always relaxes me.. what relaxes you? Getting our bodies into the parasympathetic nervous system is imperative in order to heal and balance.. Here are some more ideas that can calm our nervous system: petting your pet, deep breathing exercises, grounding, try going barefoot in the grass, creative hobbies- crocheting or painting, drawing, listening to music, epsom salt baths with nontoxic candles, sauna sitting, stretching, reading a good book cuddled in your favorite blanket, massages, watching a comedy- laughing, being present..etc..
