In fact, many insurers advise their customers to first choose urgent care centers or primary care physicians - because of the significant difference in cost - unless they believe the condition is potentially life-threatening.

It is never good to put anything hot on a burned area. To treat a minor burn you need to run the area under cool water or use a cool compress. If experiencing a sunburn, antiseptic spray can temporarily ease discomfort. If there is blistering in the burned area, it may not be suitable to treat the wound yourself.
