12/06/2025

Peggy Ann Prosser Wayne, known affectionately to her loved ones and friends as Peggy, passed away peacefully at her home in Georgetown, SC, on December 4, 2025. She was born on October 24, 1947, in Hemingway, SC, to her beloved parents, Harvey Lynn Prosser and Rosa Lee Gray Prosser. Her zest for life, commitment to her community, and love for her family were the hallmarks of her 78 years.

Peggy's life was one of service and leadership. Her professional career as the business owner of Wayne's Sporting Goods spanned an impressive 36 years, during which she became a staple of the local economy. In addition to her entrepreneurial success, she was the founder and director of the Harbor Walk Festival for over 25 years, a vibrant event that brought joy and unity to the community. Her passion for serving didn't stop there; she was an elected city council member for 18 years, where she was a voice for progress and improvement. Her diligent work on the Waccamaw Regional Government Council, Georgetown's Downtown Revitalization Board, and her role in the founding of Georgetown's downtown Trick or Treat event, showcased her tireless dedication to enriching the lives of others.

Peggy's associations were many and influential. As a member of the Georgetown Business Professional Women's Organization, she advocated for advancement and equal opportunities. Her guidance was invaluable to the United Way, where she served on the board, and her community impact was profound and lasting.

On a more personal note, Peggy's life was filled with love and laughter alongside her husband, Gary Wayne. Married for 60 years, their bond was a testament to true partnership and devotion. The legacy of their love is carried on through their children, Angela Wayne Ward (Kevin) and Pamela Wayne Adams (Nathan), as well as their grandchildren, Aaron Adams (Taylor), Paigelyn A. Newell (Bradley), Pearson Adams (Logan), Anna Grace Ward, Kent Ward (Charlie), and Pete Ward (Skylar), along with cherished great-grandchildren, Aason Adams, Kaisley Newell, Cooper Adams, Kynlee Newell, River Garner, Ricky Kreisler and Deacon Edwards, along with sister-in-law, Marie Prosser.

Peggy's commitment to her faith was just as strong as her commitment to her community. An active member of Messiah Baptist Church, she not only taught Sunday School but was instrumental in planning church activities and organizing trips. She fostered a sense of fellowship and care that extended well beyond church walls. As a member of The Swamp Fox Fellowship Riders Club, Peggy combined her love for the road with her love for people.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Roger Prosser, and a sister, Janet Prosser Glass (Harold). Peggy will be remembered as a faith-filled, passionate, and intelligent woman who left a profound imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit, marked by determination and kindness, will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched, both personally and through her many contributions to the community.

Rev. Norman Keith Edgeworth Sr., a steadfast servant of the Lord and a beacon of love and friendship, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center in Florence, SC. Born on April 11, 1932, in Green Sea, SC, Norman's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and his commitment to his family and community.

Norman's journey began as the son of Leonard Hayes Edgeworth Sr. and Dulah Austeen Todd Edgeworth. He grew up on the family farm, a place that instilled in him the values of hard work and responsibility, virtues that he carried throughout his life. After a decade of service in the Army National Guard, Norman found his calling in various roles, most notably as a production supervisor at Wellman Industries. His dedication to education was evident in his over twenty years as a substitute teacher, where he earned the affectionate nickname "Storming Norman" for his dynamic teaching style.

However, it was Norman's ministry that truly defined his life's work. Ordained in 1974, he became the oldest minister in the FWBPF Conference, a role he cherished deeply. Norman's passion for foreign missions took him to every country in Central America and Argentina, where he spent over 40 years alongside his godson, Rev. Norris Powell, sharing the transformative love of God. His commitment to leading lost souls to Christ was the achievement of which he was most proud.

Family was the cornerstone of Norman's life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness to his children, Jackie Stasney, Renee Harrell (Glenn), and Norman Keith Edgeworth Jr. (Debbie), and his godchildren, Rev. Norris and Betty Powell. His grandchildren, Jennifer Lee (David), Jamie Streater (Kalin), Vickie Hood (Tim), Katie Brunson (Brent), Johnathan Edgeworth (Sarah), and Brent Powell (Marti), along with 16 great-grandchildren, will forever cherish his memory.

Norman's siblings, Faye Collins, who was his twin sister, Marceline Allen, Jane Guthrie, Nancy Calcutt (Marion), Doug Edgeworth (Jenny), and Don Edgeworth (Betty), as well as his sisters-in-law, Ernestine Edgeworth and Enid Edgeworth, and numerous nieces and nephews, will remember him as a pillar of strength and love. He loved them unconditionally and that love was reciprocated. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eliza Jean Hughes Edgeworth, his grandson, John Sheldon Richardson, his son-in-law, Tom Stasney, and his siblings, Genelle Lee, Anne Sweat, L.H. Edgeworth Jr., and Charles Edgeworth.

A man of the earth, Norman cherished the simple joy of planting a garden each year, a tradition he maintained until his final days. His love for people was unparalleled; he never met a stranger and was always ready to extend a helping hand. His family fondly recalls his embodiment of the scriptures, living by Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," and Matthew 25:21, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Described as faith-filled, friendly, and loving, Norman's presence was a gift to all who knew him. His life was a living example of kindness and generosity, and his impact will be felt for generations to come. Rev. Norman Keith Edgeworth Sr.'s story is one of a life well-lived, a path guided by faith, and a journey completed with grace. He will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pruitt Hospice, Adriane Price, LaToya McKenzie, Chaplin James Sanders, Lisa Castles PA., also caregivers Sharon Prosser, Susan Johnson, and Sherry Salazar.

Funeral services will be 12:00 pm, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at New Hope Church, 719 North New Hope Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Miles, Rev. Norris Powell, and Chaplain James Sanders with Pruitt Hospice. Burial will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery.
