Thank you, Governor Greg Abbott, for your support of rural healthcare. What an honor to witness the ceremonial signing of two key bills:
📝House Bill 18 (VanDeaver/Perry) known as the Rural Health Stabilization and Innovation Act, provides needed strategic planning and funding to assure sustainability of rural hospitals and clinics.
📝House Bill 3000 (King/Perry) establishes the Rural Ambulance Service Grant Program, administered by the Comptroller, to provide financial assistance to qualified ambulance providers in rural counties.
Governor Abbott said, “Rural Texas is Texas. It’s what people think about when they think of Texas.”
Senator Charles Perry added, “You have to have three things for rural Texas to survive: solid infrastructure, a school, and healthcare; and if any of those do not survive, then rural Texas does not survive.”
The Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals does a great job of advocating for rural Texas healthcare at the state and Federal level. Sabine County Hospital is thankful to be an active member of this organization.
