MID-WEEK WELLNESS

Quinoa, (pronounced keen-wa) is a grain crop native to South America. There are over 120 different types, but the most common found in grocery stores are white, red, and black quinoa. It is very high in protein as well as gluten-free. Vegetarian and vegan-based diets use quinoa as a protein source, but its protein content is too low to be considered as a meat replacement. Quinoa is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, and has been valued for its ability to lower triglycerides, reduce cholesterol linked to obesity, ease pain, support urinary tract health, aid postmenopausal wellness, and even serve as a natural insect repellent. Think of ways you can include quinoa in your diet for its multiple health benefits!
