HOLISTIC WEEK-END HIGHLIGHT

Sometimes it's just too hot to cook, but fast food is not the healthiest choice. Vegetable fajitas are quick and versatile. Chop, mix and grill peppers, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, or whatever vegetables you like and layer them on top of a fresh, whole grain tortilla. Maybe throw in some steak, chicken or salmon with sweet or spicy seasoning for a fresh, flavorful meal.

NATURAL MEDICINE MONDAY

A change in daily routines often occur in summer with school breaks, vacations, and longer daylight hours. Spontaneity can be exciting, but too often a disruption in a regular schedule can be stressful. Getting adequate sleep, laughing and going outdoors can be very helpful in managing stress. Look for ways to incorporate 5-minute exercises or 5-minute "rest breaks" to get a release when you feel tension growing. Control is the key. Manage your stress, so it doesn’t manage you!

HOLISTIC WEEK-END HIGHLIGHT

It may be summer, but asthma never takes a break. It is important to be mindful of summertime asthma triggers.
Air pollution, hot and humid weather and certain types of pollen are common causes of summertime asthma. Campfire smoke and fireworks also affect air quality with the release of fumes or particles that may aggravate asthma symptoms.
If you having difficulty keeping your asthma under control, speak to your healthcare provider or pharmacist about other treatment options.

MID-WEEK WELLNESS

It's getting HOT!
If you're going to be out in the sun, remember to apply sunscreen and cover up, especially for small children. All skin types burn and there's no such thing as a “healthy tan.” Sunscreen with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 50 or higher can block 98% of the sun's harmful rays. Enjoy the summer and PROTECT YOUR SKIN!

ORGANIC TIP TUESDAY

DID YOU KNOW...?
Vitamin C has a huge impact the body's hydration and skin health. The body does not naturally produce Vitamin C, therefore it has to be obtained through food sources. High content foods include oranges, strawberries, broccoli, kale, sweet potatoes and papaya. Because vitamin C is water-soluble, its potency can be lost through cooking.
To maximize the vitamin C content intake, try to consume these foods raw, steamed or lightly cooked.

But with regular exercise, moderate weightlifting, squats and push-ups, men over 40 can maintain or increase muscle mass, which helps with build strength, joint muscles and cardiac health.

MID-WEEK WELLNESS

How do you treat a sunburn? Very GENTLY!
Here are 3 natural ways to soothe sunburned skin.
1. A used black tea bag. The tannins from the black tea can aid in reducing the pain and the heat caused by the burn and are extremely useful in healing inflamed and damaged skin.
2. Baking Soda. It contains antiseptic qualities that will realign your skin’s pH balance, reduce puffiness and dampen the itchiness. Mix some baking soda with water in a bowl to create a paste and gently rub over your sunburn.
3. Cucumbers. Known as a natural and powerful analgesic, it can be used on sunburns for cooling and comfort. The antioxidants and minerals like silica, potassium and magnesium found in them are perfect for treating irritated skin.
