Jeff McQueen with the Mental Health Association of Nassau County. Not sure if you are aware but the number one leading cause of accidental death in America is Overdose. In the state of NY in 2022 there was a recorded 5,020 which had risen 6.3% in 2023 to 5,337. This year we are already over 3,892 with opioid related deaths of which 70% are fentanyl related.
The good news is that overdose is preventable. It's not a cancer or a disease that has no cure. By raising the awareness and educating our community, providing access to Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT), increasing the knowledge of Harm Reduction and peer support with an increased workforce of Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA) and getting Narcan in the hands of more people who have loved ones that are opioid addicted we stand a chance at turning these numbers around.

This is your chance to help and join the fight against overdose. Join us on October 5, 2024, at Jones Beach Field 5 let's stomp out overdose.

Please see sponsorship opportunities and create your team and come out and walk? Hope to see you there.
