Today, more than ever, I see great strides in making mental health something of importance across all ages. I'm encouraged that we're beginning to see the stigma break off of mental health diagnoses and treatment!
This is a shout out to those of you who have been brave and courageous enough to reach out when you need help. This is a shout out to those of you who are the helpers and continue to pour into other peoples lives day in and day out because that's what you're called to do. This is a big shout out to my staff at Lighthouse who put up with my daily shenanigans and that I'm thankful for every single day!
Some of you saw my crazy shirt a few months ago when I first got it, I wish I had one in every color because I would probably wear it every single day as it is has sparked so many great conversations and several laughs along the way. Ask anybody who knows me, I like everybody a whole lot more when I'm on my meds. And truth be told, they probably like me more, too! Ain't no shame in that game!
Don't be afraid to reach out, don't be afraid to ask for help! You are deeply loved and cared for and whatever it is you're going through, you don't have to do it alone. Charlie Brown reminds us at Christmas time that a Child was born who will be called "Wonderful Counselor"- Isaiah 9:6. Counselor in that title translates to “to advise, consult, give counsel, consel, purpose, devise, plan." Y'all, that is the very definition of a counselor today! And later, Proverbs 13:10 tells us that "wisdom is with those who receive counsel." No, I'm not saying we're Jesus, lol- but I am saying even the Bible mentions a counselor and how it is wise to seek counsel! You take the first step- reach out and let someone give you counsel and help you find a plan that will work for you!
