Blanco, our deaf resident, received a thorough examination, vaccinations, and a negative heartworm test at Animal Medical Center of Panola County this afternoon. He is presently under hold, pending transport to a rescue facility in Houston.

Here are a few summer safety tips to keep our best friends happy and healthy. First, never leave your pets in the car, even for a few minutes. Keep your pets out of the direct sunlight and try to keep them off the hot pavement, as it can burn their paws. When 70 degrees outside, the inside of a car or the pavement can get as hot as 120 degrees! Always provide unlimited access to clean, fresh water, keep your pet well-groomed and trimmed, and make sure your pet doesn’t “over-do” it while exercising, as all pets should be well conditioned before engaging in any strenuous exercises.

The 4th of July holiday is almost here, and that means a lot of fireworks.. Needless to say, some fireworks can be terrifying to some pets. Some pets may get scared enough to run away, so make sure your pets have proper ID or better yet- are microchipped. If you are concerned about the way your pets are reacting to fireworks, or any other loud noises, make sure to ask about “Noise Aversion” on your next visit or phone call with us!
