Ramona Wheeler

Ramona Lee Wheeler passed into the presence of our Lord on May 15, 2026. Ramona was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on July 4th, 1945, the only child of Virgle and Lucy Day. She was raised in Livingston County, Kentucky.

Ramona loved to laugh, to dance, and to sing. She could talk to and "cut up" with anyone. If you were ever her friend, you were also welcomed as family. She loved people freely and was always ready to sit and listen. To her children she would say, "I wish I could just hold you forever" and she meant it.

While Ramona worked several jobs over the years, motherhood was her greatest profession. There was nothing in this world that brought her more joy than being a mother: holding babies, wiping noses, kissing cheeks, teaching, reading, driving, encouraging, worrying, and loving unconditionally. And there was never a more comfortable place for a child than in her arms as she rocked and sang.

But perhaps the most important thing to her was that her children attend church and love the Lord. We are comforted by the following scripture she would reference when a loved one passed away:

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather

to be absent from the body and to be present

with the Lord. " 2 Corinthians 5:8

Praise God that Ramona is now singing and dancing and cutting up- healed and present with the Lord.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Virgle Day, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ramona is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Scott Wheeler, children Tammy Owens (Kevin), Michael Wheeler (Angie), Jonathan Wheeler (Natasha), and Danielle Etter (Michael). Ramona was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Samantha, Cory, Brandie, Nick, Annalise, Annabelle, Andrew, Ashlynne, Lucy, Julian, and Ethan; as well as five great-grandchildren: Nylah, Nasir, Paisley, Casen, and Kinley.

Visitation for Ramona Lee Wheeler will be held at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.

A private burial will take place at Lola Pentecostal Cemetery in Lola, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Dementia Society of America.
