A big welcome to Dr. Katie Marrero. Dr. Marrero is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in foregut, abdominal wall reconstruction and advanced endoscopy. Dr. Marrero will serve as a core faculty member in the Valley Health System general surgery residency. She completed her general surgery residency at Carle Illinois College of Medicine, where she also served as the 2024 Administrative Chief Resident. She earned her M.D. with Magna Cum Laude honors from St. George’s University and holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Marrero comes to us from Penn State College of Medicine, where she was on faculty and has been actively involved in surgical education, curriculum development, and national committee service. Originally from the East Coast, she is excited to bring her expertise to the Las Vegas community and looks forward to caring for patients in her new home. Her other interests include traveling and hiking.

Henderson Hospital CEO, Sam Kaufman, shows off progress on the hospital's 6th floor expansion. The new expansion will add 35 additional beds to the facility. Upon completion, Henderson Hospital will be the only hospital in The Valley Health System to offer two VIP suites. These suites will double the size of regular rooms and will be spacious enough to accommodate visiting family with a comfortable sitting area. The expansion is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
