One of the biggest hindrances to progress is TRAVEL.
Whether for vacation or business, traveling sends people over the edge with the inability to adhere to the plan. It’s almost like a light switch is flipped the second a trip begins. Because how could you possibly stay on track? It’s actually pretty easy and here’s how I do it (many, MANY times per year)👇🏼
1- Pack meals: Whether you drive or fly, taking a meal prep for each day will save $, calories, and time. You can still enjoy some eating out without having to rely on it.
FAQ: Can I take meals through TSA? YES. You will have no issue flying with food as long as it is not liquid or gel. I hav packed as many as 20 meal preps in my checked bag and 10 in my carry on!
2- Plan simple movement: Give yourself 30 minutes for intentional movement. I like the 2+2 method on trips because you can do it anywhere. 2 miles(walk or run) + 200 body weight reps(break into 25’s 50’s 100’s for 200x one exercise.
Scaling idea: 20 min jog + 10 min amrap
For me this often looks like 2 miles +200 lunges or 2 miles +50 burpees 50 lunges 50 push ups 50 squats. If I have access to a hotel gym, even better I can follow the dumbbell version of the programming.
3- Order by the “Rule of Three.” When eating out build your meal around a main source of protein(1). Find a grilled option whenever possible + (one ingredient) carb(2)+veggie(3). If you are ordering a fattier cut of meat, you could omit the carb to keep calories balanced and double the veggie. I’ve never been at a restaurant where I couldn’t order this way.
4- Bring alcohol replacements: If you are one that likes to have a drink in hand on the beach or on vacay but are cutting back for health goals, having a bevvy replacement is a must!! Milli has been lifechanging for me. DM me MILLI if you want to try them!
5- Plan activity IN your trip: From walking as many places as possible, to planning in bike rides, hikes, paddle boarding, fishing, etc. Making activities a part of a vacation is a fun way to appreciate what your body can do for you AND stay active.
