Ms. Ella Josephine Wright, 59, of 515 Morgan Road passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. She was born in Farmville, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Blacknall Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, George Wright, Jr., and Sylvester Wright; one daughter, Seless Wright; eighteen grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ernest Carlton Terry, 76, of W. Andrews Ave. passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, NC. He was born to the late Raymond T. Terry, Sr. and Ethel B. Terry on July 23, 1948.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Kesler Temple AME Zion Church. Entombment will follow at Sunset Gardens. A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025.

Survivors include his daughter, Enesa C. Terry (Dirik); his grandson, Demauri C. Burwell; two brothers, Raymond T. Terry, Jr. (Grace) and Michael D. Terry (Linda); one uncle, William A. Boyd; two sister-in-laws, Frances Williams, Carolyn Banks; three brother-in-laws, Joseph Banks, Floyd Banks and Winston Banks; one niece, Shelley Lyons; two nephews, Eric Terry (Anise) and Michael Bullock. A host of relatives and many friends. And two very special friends and employees, Louis Roseboro and Timothy Johnson. And an extended son and employee, Glean Henderson Jr.

The family is requesting potted plants due to Entombment.

Ms. Betty Alston, 79, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oxford, NC. She was born in Vance County to the late Mildred Alston.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 19, 2025 in the E.C. Terry's Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.

Survivors include her brother, Rev. William Alston, Sr. (Addie) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bobby Hicks Jr., of 159 Sandstone Road, Henderson, NC was born on April 10, 1981 and died on February 27, 2025. He is the son of Bobby Hicks Sr. and the late Minister Piccola Hicks and
step-mother Elder Rowena Hicks.

He is survived by one brother, J’Toine Hicks; four children, Jaiheem Hicks, Braylen Hicks, Jazmine Hicks and Justice Hicks.

A viewing will be Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Christian Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Marvin Milton Manning departed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his residence.

He was born November 3, 1943 to the late John Lee and Hattie Manning in Vance County, North Carolina.

He attended Vance County Public Schools. He joined the United States Army after graduating High School. He was self employed, owning Marvin’s Cleaning Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, John Carnell (JC), Rufus and Fraiser Manning.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and memories his children, Marcella and Robert; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his friend of many years, Joe Yates and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 12 Noon in E.C. Terry's Funeral Chapel.
