🚒🚑 Touch a Truck, Learn to Save a Life! 🚓🦺

We had a fantastic time connecting with our community today at the Hendersonville Touch a Truck event, put on by Hendersonville Parks and Recreation! Not only did families get to explore emergency vehicles up close, but they also learned life-saving information from our team.

✅ How to Recognize a Stroke – BE FAST

Knowing the signs of a stroke can save a life. Remember to BE FAST:

Balance – Sudden loss of balance or coordination
Eyes – Sudden vision changes in one or both eyes
Face – Facial drooping on one side
Arms – Weakness or numbness in one arm
Speech – Slurred or strange speech
Time – Time to call 911 immediately!

⛑️ We also shared information about the Yellow Dot Program, which helps first responders provide life-saving care during emergencies. Participants who enroll place a yellow dot decal on their car window to alert first responders that vital medical information is stored in the glove compartment—speeding up care when seconds count.

From creating meals that meet complex medical needs to ensuring patients receive the comfort of a warm, nutritious plate, our Food & Nutrition Services team plays a critical role in healing and health.

Over the past few months, this team has gone above and beyond, continuing to deliver excellence while working out of a mobile kitchen (in the summer heat ☀️!) during our cafeteria renovation. Talk about dedication!

Shoutout to our awesome Employee Advisory Group (EAG) for spreading frozen joy around the hospital yesterday! Our team was surprised with a rolling “ice cream truck” full of frozen treats — a sweet break that lifted spirits and reminded us of the power of feeling seen and appreciated.🍦

The EAG plays a vital role in making sure employee voices are heard and valued. From meaningful feedback to fun morale-boosting efforts like this, they’re helping shape a workplace rooted in Excellence, where both patient care and colleague experience matter.

For Terry Langford, going to the right facility at the right time made a lifesaving difference. 🏥

Terry was experiencing an irregular heartbeat and shortness of breath for several weeks before her symptoms ultimately led her to seek emergency care at TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital.

Thanks to fast action and the incredible teamwork between our emergency department team, Cath lab team and interventional cardiologist Dr. Roshan Mathew, life-threatening blood clots were discovered and removed just in time.

Terry is now home, healing and holding her loved ones close.

🚨 Decontamination Drill Success! 🚨

This morning, our team at TriStar Hendersonville participated in a decontamination drill to ensure we’re prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a hazardous materials incident.

A huge thank you to Ryan from Hendersonville Fire for his invaluable expertise in hazmat response. We also appreciate Hunter from Sumner County EMS for offering great insight on EMS flow and ideas to improve future tent setups.

These drills are critical, and we couldn’t do it without the incredible support of our fire and EMS partners. Teamwork like this keeps our community safe! 👏🔥🚑

Meet Brannon Askew–His journey from U.S. Army Ranger to Physical Therapist is nothing short of extraordinary.

A proud member of the 101st Airborne Division and recipient of two Bronze Stars, Brannon served with distinction in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, he brings that same dedication and resilience to his role as a Physical Therapist at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, TN.

Brannon's transition from military service to healthcare wasn't easy, but it was driven by a deep desire to continue serving others. His story is a powerful reminder of the unique strengths veterans bring to the world of medicine.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the arms or legs. It’s easy to mistake PAD for other conditions like hip arthritis or spinal stenosis, which means often goes undiagnosed. Many people with PAD don’t experience symptoms at all. That’s why awareness of risk factors – such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking – is crucial for screening.

Understanding the early warning signs is the first step toward timely intervention and better quality of life. In most cases, lifestyle changes, exercise and medications are enough to slow the progression or even reverse the symptoms of PAD, so talk to your doctor if you think you may be at risk.
