Femwell Family,
Many of you who have had appointments recently already know this, but it is with mixed emotions that I announce I have made the very difficult decision to close Femwell, effective March 31st.
Femwell has been much more than a business to me– it has truly been a calling. I have absolutely loved every step of building a practice filled with such incredible clients and practitioners. It has been more of a success than I ever could have dreamed, and such an honor for each of us on the Femwell team to walk alongside you through some of your most vulnerable and transformative moments in life. Our team often says that we have the best clients in the world… and it’s true. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have helped so many women in our community achieve a new quality of life they didn’t know they were capable of.
However, managing a multidisciplinary practice and my full client caseload, in addition to my other family business responsibilities, has made it difficult to be present with my children in the way I desire to be.
As many of you know, I have a deep love for research, writing, and education. In this next season of my career, I will be writing a book and creating an accompanying certification course for practitioners with the hope of reaching and helping even more women than I can through my in-person practice alone. This shift will allow me to continue my passion for women’s health while also giving me the flexibility to truly cherish time with my family and soak in the fleeting years of my children being young. I am certain I will come back to in-person care in the future, but I am uncertain of exactly when that will be.
Many have asked if I am going to sell Femwell, and while I’ve given it careful thought, I’ve decided not to. Though the way I serve is shifting more toward educational resources, my commitment to Femwell’s mission will remain the same. Given that I also anticipate returning to patient care in the future, I want to continue building upon the foundation I’ve already laid.
While I will no longer be taking pelvic or hormonal health clients, I will continue taking a limited number of birth doula clients each year, and will check my Femwell email (abrussee@femwellwomenshealth.com) periodically to support past clients of mine with any questions or concerns.
I am so proud of the work the rest of the Femwell team has done, and am excited for the next steps each practitioner is taking:
• Sabrina Elmore, RN, MSN, IBCLC, LCCE will continue leading the Momwell Postpartum Support Group for moms with babies 0-12 months old. Meetings will remain at the Femwell office on Thursdays from 9:30-10:30 through March, and then will transition to the Downtown Hendersonville ESL Building- 410 5th Ave W. in April. She will also continue in her role as an IBCLC, L&D nurse, and childbirth educator at AdventHealth. Check out the schedule for her free informative classes at https://www.adventhealth.com/hospital/adventhealth-hendersonville/events, and join the Momwell Postpartum Support Group on Facebook for meeting updates.
• Hannah Farman, LCMHCA, NCC is transitioning into a counseling role at Safelight, where she will bring her expertise to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and adults in crisis. • Lisa Mejia, RD/N, LD/N, CDCES, IFNCP will be offering nutrition counseling with specialized services for diabetes, EDS, disordered eating, food intolerances/sensitivities, and gut health through her private telehealth practice, Bienestar Nutrition. She can be reached by email at lisa@bienestarnutrition.com.
• Hannah Ruth Felperin, LMBT will continue offering her expert MediCupping, prenatal massage, and therapeutic massage services at Beloved Body Spa in Fletcher. Treat yourself to whole-body rejuvenation by booking a session with her at belovedbodyspa.com/contact.
• Michelle McGuire, INHC is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her second [ridiculously cute] daughter, and is taking a break from hormonal health coaching for the time being. I know she will be deeply missed by each of her clients!
• Eva, our beloved office manager, will be soaking in more quality time with her family and her garden. 😉
If you need recommendations for other like-minded functional women’s health practitioners in the area, please reach out to us at info@femwellwomenshealth.com. We would love to help guide you in the right direction.
Thank you so much for being a part of the Femwell family. I will miss seeing your beautiful faces each week, but I look forward to staying connected and sharing my new work with you. Be on the lookout for book updates and free educational content coming this way soon! It’s not goodbye… it’s see you later. 🤍
God bless, Alyssa Brussee
