Western North Carolina, thank you for continuing to support the future of health care in our region.

AdventHealth has received state approval and broken ground on the first phase of our new 93-bed hospital in Weaverville — an important milestone in expanding access to care closer to home.

The 2026 State Medical Facilities Plan identifies a need for 92 additional acute care beds across our service area, now including Clay County. AdventHealth is applying for these beds as part of our long-term vision to expand access to advanced trauma, tertiary and specialized care closer to home.

This next phase will help strengthen care for communities across Buncombe, Graham, Madison, Yancey and Clay counties and help more patients receive the advanced services they need without leaving Western North Carolina.

We recently welcomed back our first heart catheterization patient to celebrate her procedure and ongoing recovery, alongside her family and care team.

Her procedure, performed by Eduardo Balcells, MD, reflects the growing access to advanced heart care in our community — and the lives already being impacted.
