Pisgah View Subdivision (from our Map/Plat collection) known now as the Laurel Park Shopping Center on Brevard Road (U.S. 64). You can see that Pisgah Drive (shown as Pisgah Avenue) still exist as originally laid out in this survey by Charles Turner who later own a house adjacent to the Pisgah Drive shown in his survey. This same Pisgah Avenue is now the DOT construction site of a roundabout adjacent to the Laurel Park Shopping Center. A bit of Chip Drake's detailed early history follows:

Pisgah View subdivision was part of larger tract of land purchased by Flake Houston in 1918 from Frank N. Grover and his wife Blanch. Frank Grover was living in Hendersonville working for Knoxville Power Company as a civil engineer in 1917 and by 1920 had moved his family to Alma, Michigan. This sale was for 76 acres excepting about 2 acres that had previously been deeded for the Rhymer School located near Shaws Creek Road (now U.S. 64 or Brevard Road/Highway). Frank Gover purchased the property from Vinton and Jane Liddell in 1913. The Liddell family purchased the property from the Hill family in 1905 (property then known as the Hill House) who had purchased this property from Verina Chapman in 1877.

The plat of Pisgah View was registered in the office of Register of Deeds in Henderson County in Book of Plats No. 1 at Page 116. Charles B. Turner, a civil engineer surveyed and laid out the subdivision for Flake Ramsey Houston about 1 mile from the Hendersonville town limits on the Hendersonville/Brevard Road. It was created in 1926 during a real estate boom in Henderson County. Only 8 of it’s 69 lots were sold because a real estate crash ensued shortly after the subdivision was surveyed. Charles Burress Turner Sr. was born in 1870 who died in 1958. He practiced his trade in Henderson County. This tract of land was adjacent to the east of the Davis Grove Subdivision also bordering Brevard Road. There were several references to Flake Houston living in a home in Pisgah view at this time. Virginia Street in the Pisgah View Plat is believed to be the former driveway that went to a home known as the Hill house (General Daniel Harvey Hill).
