šŸŽ Back to School with Confidence šŸŽ

As students head back to class, one tip from our new toolkit can make all the difference: Teach yourself one simple breathing exercise to manage stress on the spot. When you feel the pressure of exams or deadlines mounting, try this:

-Inhale slowly for 4 counts
-Hold for 2 counts
-Exhale gently for 6 counts

Repeating this for just one minute can calm your mind, steady your focus, and help you tackle whatever the school day throws at you. Want more practical strategies like this? Follow our page for weekly mental-health tips!

Join Us! Breaking Stigma: Hope, Healing, and Recovery—One Conversation at a Time

In many marginalized communities, mental health challenges have long been silenced—buried under stigma, isolation, and lack of access. Today, a powerful shift is underway. Brave voices are rising. Stories are being shared. At NAMI, we see it every day: one conversation can spark hope, build trust, and start the healing process.

At NAMI, we witness this transformation daily. We see how one honest conversation can spark healing, how one person’s courage to speak up can save someone else’s life, and how communities that come together can become the medicine that creates hope, healing, recovery, and wellness.

This month isn’t just about awareness—it’s about action. It’s about creating the kind of mental health support these communities have always deserved: accessible, affirming, and rooted in the strength that’s found in vulnerability. This month and every month we’re breaking down barriers and building bridges, proving that when people come together with open hearts and honest voices, healing becomes possible. It starts with one conversation. Will you be part of it?

Honoring Bebe Moore Campbell’s Groundbreaking Legacy – July 2025

In 2008, inspired by Bebe Moore Campbell’s charge to end stigma and provide mental health support for minoritized communities, the U.S. House of Representatives designated July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. While there have been recent attempts to change the month’s name, NAMI continues to recognize the importance of honoring Campbell’s incredible legacy and her groundbreaking work in helping shift the mental health culture in underserved communities.

Campbell understood that mental health isn’t just about individual healing — it’s about community transformation. She knew that when those who have been unseen and unheard share their truths, they create ripples of hope that reach far beyond themselves. Her vision was radical yet simple: creating spaces where cultural wisdom meets modern understanding, where lived experiences become guideposts for others walking similar paths.

• $25 = one refreshing cup • $100 = a full pitcher • $1,000 = a 5-gal dispenser

Our goal? 5 dispensers ($5,000) to keep peer-led support groups and education classes running all summer long—because summer can be an especially tough season for those facing mental health challenges.

A great example how NAMI Tennessee joins community leaders to better support you in cities throughout the state of Tennessee.

As municipalities look to explore and expand crisis intervention care in their communities, a statewide mental health advocacy organization is hoping to help them connect what resources they have and fill the gaps in between.
